Fibre is crushing ADSL in South Africa

I'd be very interested in an article that shows the speed of fibre rollout, and if it is increasing or staying at a constant rate.

Surely with all the interest, obvious happiness of customers and high take-up of fibre, the pace at which it is being rolled out should be increasing. Something like 10 km per week 10 months ago vs 40 km per week now (not sure what metric would be used, but surely something like that could be done).

Or 10 houses connected per week then, vs 50 houses per week now, etc.

Should this be a surprise to anyone? The ADSL network has endless issues and limitations; terrible latency, constant disconnects, cable theft, poor speeds and absolutely pathetic upload speeds!

They put fibre about 500m from me on the highway (and no one except the guys working on it want to admit it is there). They were fixing it one day because someone thought it was copper and tried to steal it.

We are currently stuck with smart village - I dont have an option - do we know if they will open the link up for other connections - the people in the area are bitching non stop about connectivity issues but the parentals are insisting on getting smart village since its our only option - vuma and the rest are around us tho

Smart village sounds like something you would end up with in a complex.

So I got this yesterday
Vuma and CBS Constructions will be on site tomorrow (10/10/2017) to start with the Fibre network. Please note that the project will take 3 – 4 weeks to completehttp://mygaming.co.za/news

Seeing that Vuma is live outside the complex I should have my fibre by end of November :D
