Fibre ISP questions

Morning MyGamers.

Been away for a while and on my return found that the long promised Vumatel fibre rollout in my suburb had started and progressed to the point of already having installed cables past my house and having the fibre box mounted on the boundary wall. Hopefully, in another few weeks they'll have finished the rest of the area and taken us live. Which leads me to the question...

Anyone in these parts running FTTH and able to advise on ISPs that operate on Vumatel and decent packages or deals? I realise I should ask this over on MyBB, but don't want to be flooded with ISP Reps pushing their products, and would rather get some insight from actual users and MyGamers.

Big on my list of unknowns is the difference between capped and uncapped performance on fibre. On ADSL I was never able to run on anywhere near the line speed I have whilst on an Uncapped account. On Capped accounts I get significantly more stable and acceptable speeds.

The fibre package I've been considering is from Cool Ideas who make a point of only offering Uncapped packages and say that these are "unshaped". But what worries me is having situations where I'm paying for a 50Mbps deal for eg, but not getting anywhere near that speed on a consistent basis, regardless of whether it's unshaped or not.

I'd rather have consistent dependable speeds that justify the fibre installation and manage my data usage, than have unlimited data but completely erratic and undependable line speeds.

Thoughts anyone?

I am definitely interested in hearing uncapped vs capped. The sales guy was pushing Uncapped pretty hard but PTSD flashbacks to ADSL uncapped had me avoiding it. Would be interesting to see if Uncapped works as well as they say it does.
