Final Fantasy 14 Beta Starts 11 March

Ok kewl, I will give my brother that link since he got his beta as well today, he can dl it for us. Hes the bugger with uncapped not me :P

ok take note that when he runs the updater and those patches are put into the directory once run it will auto delete those files, so he needs to copy those updates not move into the directories

only way to do the utorrent method is with all those dht network, local peer share (all ticked) and then you start the download with force download. well that's how i've mananged, but direct is alot better. thanks for sharing :)

Well for me downloading torrents was also slow because my utorrent couldnt authenticate with the ffxiv tracker so using this method instead......

Direct Downloads FTW

PS: The techpower up is the one u want to use thats the 4.7gb one

I have actually given up on it. I cant play full screen or the cutscenes dont work. I have no idea what im doing or where to go, plus 9 out 10 times when I get where I think I should be the game crashed. So Ive given up on it :P

lol you are to weak :D

yes, the sceen is at that size for them to generalize the resolution for more set enviroment for results. it was so in the pre open beta too, but then they enabled the fullscreen.

i do however agree, you get lost it's not as apparent as to where you need to go or where you are, and i struggled with this in the beginning. try reading your journal it helps :), not sure what the keys are to pan around the map as they have changed too...

not sure bout the crashes and no cutscenes, haven't had that problem yet. only crash i had so far was mass effect 2 waiting for just after some hard work to crashout /sigh.

Yea Im a bit impatient, I prefer beta's to be a bit more polished, it was small things like no jumping, the horrible spelling mistakes and so forth that got to me. That and the fact that when you reach a point - i.e. the aether thingy first time round I had no idea what to do, and that is when the game also become so laggy it doesnt open up dialogs or anything. So yar, I mite give it a try when its more polished but for now nope no ways.

I run in full screen and am fine, had to update my directx tho, the directx that comes with win7 default isint a fully support directx9c so had to update it. do that and change full screen in config and im sure you will be fine.

I will give it a try, but seriously the loading screens take forever! I dunno hey, the game just hasnt pulled me in as I hoped.

then i missed the setting and assumed it's locked again.... wait it's in that configurator i should have run before hand ?

Will post screen shot after work, but go to Start > Programs > Square Enix > Final Fantasy XIV Beta Config...

Click general tab, and there is a tab for Video, can change resolution der.

This is why you wait for the official product before jumping in and expecting it all to work off the bat.

MMO's at release are infamous for issues, let alone when they are still beta testing it (even though it is still an open beta). Usually waiting like a month after release is best missing the initial burst of players and issues, but hey, the majority of people lack any semblance patience.

I am glad this game is not holding your hand like all other MMO's nowadays, all of which basically lead a person by the nose everywhere. I do agree that there can be lack of accessibility in these cases and perhaps this game suffers from it like FFXI did, but either way I won't mind since I am confident this game will offer something different feel compared to the generic moron-mode MMO's out now. It's just you are likely going to have to work for it which is a blessing and a curse depending on the player.
