Final Fantasy VII re-re-re-release now available…sort of

Square-Enix’s latest franchise-milking product is good to go for download – just not in South Africa.

I geuss I can't complain about this since it's essentially a GoG type release, just more expensive, but I would really have liked to see a proper HD version of this game.

Why do companies do this?

I'm guessing it's because Square-Enix do not directly publish and distribute in SA - they do that through SK. Though why this affects digital distribution is beyond me. (It's the reason why Xbox LIVE and iTunes are also hit by such needless boundaries)

Money is not passing hands through digital distribution. So if SK is not getting a cut, they not going to let us have it.
