Firefox 7 was just released. A bit soon considering Firefox 6 was released only a month ago. Latest changes include:

  • Drastically improved memory handling for certain use cases
  • Added a new rendering backend to speed up Canvas operations on Windows systems
  • Bookmark and password changes now sync almost instantly when using Firefox Sync
  • The ‘http://’ URL prefix is now hidden by default
  • Added support for text-overflow: ellipsis
  • Added support for the Web Timing specification
  • Enhanced support for MathML
  • The WebSocket protocol has been updated from version 7 to version 8
  • Added an opt-in system for users to send performance data back to Mozilla to improve future versions of Firefox
  • Fixed several stability issues
  • Fixed several security issues

See the complete list of changes here and grab Firefox 7 at http://firefox7.org/ or use the Software Updater when prompted

Really crazy development cycle if you ask me, from 5 to 7 in a few months... Still no GUI change, jus thought it appropriate it looks the same now.. lol. Updating non the less to see what it has to offer.

Wow, less than 3 seconds after installing Firefox 7, i crashed it... After trying the 2nd time i stalled it... Okay.. So third times the charm yep its working now... At least my PC never locked up.

Lies from mozilla, they claim this with every release yet when a site sometimes doesnt respond the entire browser still goes and crashes. and dont let me start on memory usage.

I used Firefox for a very long time. Then I discovered Chrome. Haven't looked back since.

Same here although I still use Firefox for some of its plugins.
However, IE9 is faster than both of them now so I find myself switching between Chome and IE sometimes... Now if only they could drop that compatibility mode crap and make it so that any web page displays correctly again like in IE7, I'd make it my main browser of choice again.

Only "needed" (for lack of a better word) plugins for your browser is Adblock Plus, Ghostery and (if you will) Spybot S&D. I used them on Firefox, and is now using it on Chrome along with some needed plugins form my KIS 2012.

IE9 Faster? I'm still wondering why I bothered downloading it...

Is it just me or does this Firefox 7 not have minimize, maximize and close options on the top right corner? Seriously, WTF?

Thx for this, I'm still running FF 3.6 at home :p I usually use Chrome. At work am forced to use FF6 as the firewall won't let me install Chrome or Google Talk. Gonna install FF7 now :)

Firefox has been stable for me since 6... I'm not ready to ditch it because I love my plugins too much.

OK, FF7 is now installed. So glad that it focuses on the address bar when u open a new window or tab. FF6 wasn't doing that for me, but then again maybe it's cause Google.com is my home screen...

Main reason I'm probably using Chrome now (and sticking with it) is because it synchronises with Gmail account.
