Fist of Jesus

Do you guys know that the game is based on a short film of the same name? It is mentioned in the description in the OP as well. I haven't seen the film, but it has an imdb rating of 7.1.

If the short film is similar to the game (i.e. same story etc.) you can hardly blame the developer for trying to be controversial. They might have just enjoyed the film and decided to make a game based on it.

It's a fun little satirical game. Not any more blasphemous than Binding of Isaac. Nothing to get up in arms about.

Why, are you looking for reasons to be offended?

Trying to understand your generalization in your original post.

Pretty much, game devs here are jumping on someone else's shit storm/ hype wagon.

I wish people would stop being so sensitive to everything, it is the 21st century get with the times. Also agnosticism.

Thanks for pointing that out, I totally missed the point that there was a film...I thought they were in game cut scenes......*Duh*

Why do you think this game is an attack?

My bad choice of words - hence the apostrophes. My comment was more to what Glordit had posted.

Trying my best here to be non offensive but, yes you got to learn to take a few stabs at your own religion and beliefs.

I see no offense in your posts, please speak your mind - I've been given plenty bloody noses over the years in the MyBB PD section. I see it as engaging in discussion.

I've acknowledged in my first post that Christians find it very difficult (in general) to find it humorous when you make fun of key figures such as Jesus, it is seen as blasphemy.

I get it that many will have no problem with the game, so be it, but it's also disingenuous to be dismissive of the offense that this game causes. This game is riding on the hype of the title and controversy it is causing, I guess that it the only point I've wanted to make.

I didn't watch the trailer so I only read the comments and posted that based on what I read. I therefore did not know that they showed scenes from the film in the trailer, which is why I asked if people knew it was based on a film. Everybody was pointing fingers at the developers and I felt those fingers should be pointed at the filmmakers instead as without the film I doubt this game would even exist. Not that the film or game really bothers me that much...

Yes it's insincere to not consider the game worthy of consideration to religious people and their beliefs. I understand your view on the matter but, you find it offensive because they took an important person from your religious instruction and make a mockery of them. (This of course is my presumption on the matter). From my experiences, you just to to learn to let it go, things like this will happen no matter what measures are taken. That is not to say I don't care, I do but it is not worth the effort to make a spectacle out of such a matter. It will blow over in a weeks time and be replaced by something else just as offensive to someone else and the cycle will be repeated.

Gameplay looks a bit boring actually.

No surprises there, if they had a decent game they wouldn't have had to resort to cheap tactics to get it hyped up.

So if somebody else does something really stupid or offensive, it's okay for you to do the same because somebody else has already done that?

If this game was entitiled: "Fist of Allah", muslims would have killed anyone involved with this game, just as a sign of: "Don't f*ck with our religion".

Is that what I said? No, it's not. I was merely commenting on the fact that some people said it was a cheap marketing tactic on the developer's part. I still don't see how that is the case since the game is based on a film. If I make a game based on Hostel (side note: I have only seen scenes from this movie and do not like it one bit, just using it as an example) or a similar movie, I don't see how the controversy around it can be called a cheap marketing tactic. However, if they developed the game first, without any connection to the film, and then changed the game and the title after watching the film, then it becones justified to call it a marketing tactic.

Anyway, I was just voicing my opinion. If you don't agree with it that's cool, doesn't bother me one bit, much like the game and film in question.
