Five 2011 game releases that may disappoint

Borderlands has secured itself as my number 3 favourite game of all time. The first time I played it I got bored after a while and traded it in. A few months later I bought it again and I haven't been able to put it down for long ever since. I just can't get enough of it and I really hope they bring out a sequel soon. I have all the DLC and have finished all of them, except the last one, at least two times. Mad Moxxi doesn't count as there is no way in hell I can do that on my own and I just can't find people willing to play through everything with me.

I also have Dragon Age Collector's Edition and Awakening on PC as well as the Ultimate Edition for PS3. Finished it twice on each platform.

I played Borderlands with my other half and I kind of, sort of enjoyed it but nowhere near as much as I enjoyed the co-op in Resident Evil 5--story was fun, quick-time events were awesome, characters were likeable and pwning mutant zombie things together is the most romantic thing in the world

Loot is too generic. I don't want to play WoW, I WANT TO BE A GOD! MUWAHAHAHAHAHA! *cough* Erm... I mean a totally awesome protagonist with a loyal and undying following of easily manipulated sheep who bow to my will <.<'

LOL, that brings back memories of Jade Empire. I literally bound my whole party to my will.

Regarding the loot: even though I get what you mean with it being generic, I still love it. I mean come on, there are shotguns that fire rockets, rockets!!!

Yes, yes. That's fun for the first 50 or so shots and then you get bored with the same, tired old splattering of body parts and you wonder when you'll find something to spice it up a bit again. Naaaaaah... Give me something to hold it all together! Something deep, immersive; something that makes you go "oooo" and "aaah." Something that keeps you playing to find out what happens next, not on an endless quest to find epic loot.

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy good games I can co-op with and Borderlands is right up there as far as that goes (still not better than RE5) but I play RPGs for the single-player experience and for the escapism. Not for the social aspect

I love all of that stuff as well and I'm really hoping Gearbox beaf up that side of the game for the sequel, but I'll buy it even if it's exactly the same as Borderlands with just different characters and environments (and guns obviously). I never really played Borderlands co-op much, still want to, but for some reason I just can't get bored with it. Even if I'm doing the same old missions or looking for the same old repair kit or weapon parts, once I start playing I just can't stop for a while. I guess what keeps me coming back (along with the loot, of course) is the awesome gameplay. It is probably the most fun FPS I have ever played.
