Flight Simulators

So its my birthday and a friend wants to get me a PC Game as a present. I told her not to worry but she insists.

So, I have a choice between Flight Simulator or Transformers 2.

I am more of a NEED FOR SPEED and MAME gal :)

I am relatively new when it comes to Flight Simulators. I wanna learn to fly a plane and land it. Will it be possible with an ordinary Flight Sim game. It does not have to be a latest version, can you recommend anything.

Is there anything I need to play it. I know my pc must be good to handle it and I need a Flight stick too.

Assist me please :)

Im sorrry but that sounds soooo sexual!

I haven't played a flight sim since X-Wing Alliance.

:D He probably meant it that way too :p

If it's FlightSim 10, you're probably going to need a pretty heavy machine too - the series is famous for hogging resources.

Il2 - Sturmovik. I know it's going for R99 at pretty much any decent place u can buy games. Combat Flight Simulator 3. FlightSim X is pretty amazing, but MS don't make it no more :/ Otherwise if u really want to go old skool, play X2 - Threat,Darkstar One, Tachyon - The Fringe

Rather go for the new X3 Terran conflict you want to get an X game as they finally got a hold on the controls ... Darkstar One is lots of fun for a space sim and a hell of a lot easier than the X games.

Only flight sim I really liked was an arcade ones like Crimson Skies (so not serious sim like). Although I have heard Il2 - Sturmovik is pretty good

I have X3 - Terran Conflict, but it's not really something you can buy in the stores though :/ X2 - Threat is going for R59.99, which is begging for some loving ;) IL2 - Sturmovik is not for the faint hearted though, pretty hectic game. But i love it :)

Crimson Skies was a awesome game from MS, pity they never made a sequal though :(

I just want to know how to learn to fly a plane 747 or something similar. I want to be able to land/take-off with it. Something not too hectic. I must admit that I HATE games like the Sims etc.

So a flight simulator game we go hunting...

Well Flight Sim X is the best you can get though, if it's a 747 if want to fly then :) and then is plenty full payable add-on packs for it. Need a decent joystick to get the most fun out of it though..

What Gradius said ... Though if I remember correctly you have quite a panel to contend with on a 747, which does look hectic at first until you learn the motions.

LOL, yea only thing i couldn't crash was my WWI Sopwith Camel. Plainly only cause i never picked up enough speed on the runway :p

www.gog.com has a sale this weekend on flight sims - 30 % off

Bought IL-2 Sturmovikâ„¢: 1946 myself - at $6.99 - it's a 3.2 GB download though. The other flight sims are a lot smaller though.

Now I just need a proper joystick ... recommendations anyone ?
