Forgotten Gems

I would like to add Blood and perhaps BioForge to the mix. When everyone was playing Quake, I played Duke 3D and Blood. Currently I have so many games and a lot of new titles, but something just always takes me back to the old titles. Not sure what it is - perhaps good memories?
Yesterday I played Neverwinter Nights 1 again. I do have Neverwinter Nights 2, but again - there is something about the first one that just draws me in. I would love to play DM to a party of adventurers but I guess time is pretty much a luxury. Lat week I played X-wing vs Tie fighter - bought it from GOG - It did not disappoint.

Don't get me started on Privateer 1 - just awesome. It then evolved into Wing Commander which wasn't the same. Even privateer 2 took so much away from the game. There is a remake of Privateer 1 (exactly the same game but working on modern computers with a bit better graphics) called Vega strike.

Anyway - these are all good. Would like to throw in Star Reach just quick. Me and my brother had hours of fun on it - split screen strategy at its best...Before I keep on typing...

Cheers to Forgotten gems and lots of fun!

Oh yes! Jones in the fast lane a fantastic and addictive 'board' game! Ever played Mad TV? Comes to mind; since it was more or less the same time period.

The fishy one is correct. Starlancer was all Chris Roberts (and his brother Erin)

The sequel, Freelancer, was conceived by Roberts, and he was responsible for its initial design and development. But before its' release Digital Anvil was sold to Microsoft and he left (to make movies). He still acted as a "consultant" for MS on the game, but his direct involvement in the game that was eventually released was limited. He is not credited directly with either "producer" or "designer" of Freelancer.

Roberts suggested in his original pitch for Star Citizen in 2012 that he had been dreaming of creating "the spiritual successor to Freelancer" and that he was hoping SC would be it.

That's the way I had it too. Ironically, he had similar ambitious ideal for Freelancer as for Star Citizen, but MS put a stop to it to avoid perpetual delays. It kinda feels like the market, with crowdfunding in place, is more susceptible to his complete ambitious vision.

Hexen and Heretic, damn they had great atmosphere and feeling, would we great if they would release a new chapter in it. Would look epic on todays engines.

Absolutely agree. Had a bit of trouble finding the full version of Heretic again - love both games. Heretic 2 was also fun.

Talking about GOG.com in another thread, I remembered another game I absolutely loved: NOX. I remember playing the (multiplayer only, iirc) demo waaaaay back and wishing to play the full game. The moment it launched on GOG.com, I grabbed it and finished it twice. One of the better ARPG's I've played in my life.

Somewhat off topic, but Unreal always reminds me of this very old video:

Geez.. Dota players seems like such a warm bunch now!

I do remember getting pissed off at those bots, though, some of them seemed... smug. Like they remembered killing you before.

That video cant be real....must be some dewd creating a vid for the internet....
I am with you there. Seems just too good to be true. Or the has some real mental issues.

Perhaps. But this video was created long before youtube existed (I remember it circulating LANs around 2005), so I doubt it. Maybe it was made for the German version of a tv show similar to Dr. Phil or something.

Lets get back on topic though. Do any of you recognise this one:
demos-odysseybycar_l2.jpg

It is called Odyssey by Car (odysscar). The author has been mia since 1999.

Another of my favourites from Lucas Arts is the quite popular but lesser known of the SCUMM games (as opposed to Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, or even Leisure Suit Larry) called Full Throttle (1995):

Carmageddon... (Still haven't finished a single race by actually doing all the laps... :P)
Dungeon Keeper...
Diablo 2...
Freelancer...
Sacred...
Warcraft 3...

The good old days... when I still had loads of time to play games.
