Former Lions rugby player, Johan Kemp, was shot dead in his house in Fountainebleau, Randburg, Beeld reported on Saturday.

Kemp was shot three times in the upper-body when three burglars broke into his house in the early hours of Thursday morning, Gauteng police spokesman Lt-Col Lungelo Dlamini told the newspaper.

"We do not know how the burglars entered. There is no sign of forced entry and the dogs did not bark.

Fucking savages. This just reminds you to always keep a gun at hand.

Are you certain a gun would've helped? And not being told the details of the circumstances can you be certain it was not because he had a gun that he was shot? If he was shot just for the hell of it then why was she not shot?

Swines! And Jacob Zuma continues to tell the world that our country isn't a violent place? :wtf:

so, cause this guy was a semi celeb, he makes the news? so what! what about the hundreds off others that are shot dead in house robberies. what makes this wannabe so important?

Ever considered that the senseless murder of someone well known to the public will get more mileage than the other hundreds? So he makes the news. But hopefully it will be another stark message to our Prez (who seems to have his head deeply buried in the sand) that this country IS violent. And that urgent action is required to save the other hundreds of people innocently shot.

really? he's well known to the public. let's poll the 30 and unders and see what they say....

Aren't you missing the point. Someone has been senselessly murdered again. Who cares if he was well known or not. Try and get some perspective here!

i see some people are just focusing on one small portion of the conversation and not the whole thing. my annoyance that it made the news because he's semi famous but there's hardly ever a mention of all the other people being murdered.

what i would like to see is an article on each and every single murder, this will give the country a wake up call on how bad it actually is (it will be easier to quantify and associate with).

Then start a news outlet and pay journo's to write it and see if you make any money to keep the business afloat.

Simply put: reporting on every murder will read like a Stats SA report (although likely somewhat more accurate). It's not newsworthy.

RIP, Big guy.

Would have been useful if you had upfront presented your full POV as I tend to agree with you.

I think all of us will agree that crime in SA needs more attention BUT it is not the citizens that need a wake up but Government and they don't give a toss. Also the disrespectful manner in which you originally presented your "argument" needs some work.

^^This. The people know well enough whats going on in the country, it's just our wonderful government who doesn't give a flying f*** about us. I doubt it will ever change, this country is f***ed beyond recognition. Sorry for the swears.
