So, like this week's challenge will be ALL CLASS R CARS are eligible for the challenge, but any person that can end up on the leaderboard without taking a racing car or any open wheeler will get 5 additional points
Great, that will do.
However, if you upgraded a lower class car to a higher class, doesn't it show up in the filter you upgraded it to? I'm fine with allowing upgrading cars from lower classes . The car with which most of us did the challenge with last week was in fact a class E car *which we upgraded to class C)
AyeOkay, diabolus, I want to be absolutely clear on the cars that we don't end up with the same issue as what happened a week ago.
I foresee some issues with this challenge, as some people will take track day cars, because they are 100% production cars. They are impractical as all hell, but not racing only whatsoever. Thus, they cannot be excluded technically. I'm sure this point will have a lot of contention once lap times get's posted and stuff.
Also, from an admin position, it will be difficult to check that everyone is following the rules of the challenge.
but...
We want it to be interesting, and we want people to not just take the fastest car and win all the time
For these reasons, I would like to propose a new rule for challenge setting:
When placing a challenge, the car selection MUST BE DONE by Class Only. You can add additional filters as per in game filters (Manufacturer, Year, Class). This is the only overhead restrictions to car selection
Addendum to this rule: Each challenger can add HARD MODE to their challenges, which is not necessary to complete the challenge, but anyone that posts a time according to this HARD MODE rule will be awarded 5 bonus points. These HARD MODE sub-challenges are like driving without assists, driving with a small sub-class of cars, driving with a specific drivetrain.
All those in favour?
I understand what you are pointing at. And yes, ANY car is 100% fine for the challenge, as long as it is not higher than the specified class for the challenge. If you want to upgrade a Datsun to R class and compete, you are more than welcome.
If fact, with the proposed addendum, the challenger might even add HARD MODE challenges like that should they want
Ok, great , so then it is simple,
-----------------------------------------------------
Track : Silverstone GP, in the rain
Class : R
Cars : Any
Tuning : Any
BONUS/HARD : Doing this in a car from 1950-1959 (look under Lotus for fun examples of this)
------------------------------------------------
double tap the xbox button and then y to save a screen shot.

You get to experience a wet track in one of your first few races in the game and subsequent some hydroplaning. BUT that is only in a class C car, so yeah, this should suckGood luck, hopefully there won't be too many broken controllers after this. For those that have not experienced the much advertised "hydroplaning" feature, you will now..and you will be flying off the track while doing so![]()
I just thought of a flaw with the hard mode idea.
It is going to be difficult to do it with a different car than was initially set with the challenge. unless you ONLY do the challenge with the "hard mode" vehicle. Otherwise everyone is going to have to post so many different screenshots due to leader boards taking only the fastest time into consideration. I think it is a very cool and novel idea, but still think keep it plain and simple might be the best. For the organizer as well as the drivers. Just my opinion![]()
True, that is why i would rather just call it a "bonus" and to qualify, you need to actually post your best time in that car, not some other car, that is the whole point of it. If you drive the bonus car and post a screenshot and then revert to another car and post a better time , you can't claim points in both categories.
Hence why i say it should be a "bonus" and not necessarily more difficult to achieve a good time with it, it can be a way of restricting people to the same car without forcing it. It can also give some guys who are that 2-3 seconds off the pace with the fastest car anyway, the opportunity to still get extra points for using the bonus car/restriction because chances are they will still be 2-3 seconds off the pace, but in the restricted car.
Besides at some point we are going to run into these issues anyway, since some tracks you will already have times on from a previous session and maybe you are unable to beat the time.....what then? You will be posting screenshots anyway.
Wait what? So you get points for both the challenges? I think DieGrootHammer understood it differently.
This is going to cause confusion, I can already see it coming. And some people have problem with screenshots (myself included) not being able to post them.
You can see what date time was posted.
We did mention earlier to try pick a challenge where not many of your friends have set times on yet.
I just thinking adding so many variables where every1 IS going to get focused is just simple

Uhm no, i said you can't get extra points if you don't actually post the best time with the hard mode restriction. So if the challenge is to drive any Class R car with a "hard mode" of only using 1950s cars and you post a time in a 1950s car and then OVERRIDE it with a 1990s car , you can't then get extra points, simple.
This is not 2 challenges, it's 1 , with bonus points for getting fastest time with the specific additional restrictions. That's how i understood it. If you override it with another car , tough, no extra points.
Mmmm... okay :? Guess it is you challenge after all. We saw with the first challenge where a guy wanted to make it more complicated it failed and times were dismissed. Just don't want that to happen yet again because guys don't want to keep it to plain and simple track, class and car
Well i think it is relatively simple? You will have the same story with Assists. If you post a time without any assists, and then go and override it by turning all assists back on, then you can't then make a claim on the bonus/hard points . The best time on the board for the week should be what counts and it's easy to determine from that whether you get bonus points.
So i don't want people driving say a 1950s car, and posting screenshots, and then revert to drive another car and post screenshots of that....as i said, it's not 2 separate challenges.
