20th Century Fox’s latest Fantastic Four reboot is going to cost the studio big time.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the studio could write off over $60 million due to Fantastic Four’s flop in its box office debut. The superhero movie reportedly cost $120 million to produce and tens of millions more to market.

The movie took in an estimated $26.2 million, roughly $4 to $14 million below expectations.

Fantastic Four has been critically panned, and director Josh Trank alleged the studio meddled with the final cut of the film, claiming we’ll never see the “fantastic” version.

And even with this news they are making a number 2 set for release in 2017.

To be honest, I don't believe that a slight "meddle" in the final cut could have such a disastroust effect (and get approved). A good movie is good all-around, not just because it has one or two tweaks in the scene of final cut (granted those go a long way).

It just sounds like it is a weak excuse for a bad movie. I haven't watched it yet though.

I hope they will just stop this whole FF thing. Marvel is already killing the books in order to cut potential profits that Fox could earn from their movies. At this point, it seems impossible to create a good FF movie. Just hand the rights back to Disney and see what they can do with it.

Went to watch it yesterday, and I generally seem to enjoy any superhero movie, even the ones the critics dont like.

But this just seemed off for some reason, It was decent in he beginning but then just fell apart in the second half.
