Franchises that need reboots

Who is going to play it once they hear is so hard on normal hehe.

Baldur's gate 2 Played it 9 times till the end and only once have I beaten the last guy. Strange how it works I want to see the ending again that's why playing it now again.

People who like a challenge? :p

Took me a couple of tries to get past the final guy - but I managed it finally. If I remember correctly I finally beat him with overwhelming magic firepower (had 2 full mages, and 2 dual class mages in my party). Tactics be damned.

Oh .. and a ton of potions.

haha yeah remembered going to all the shops to buy most of the potions. I felt sad that my drow armor turned to dust :(

the reason i chose the games i did.

Freespace: FS 2 ended in a open method which left space for a sequel.

Descent: descent 3 was cool but didn't capture the fun of 2

Starlancer: very fun space sim but the ending was open ended and the bs short version of it in Freelancer was crap...

Battlezone (1998 version): now this was a ground breaking game, it properly mixed RTS and FPS in a fun way, the 1999 pandemic sequel was crap and should not exist, sadly the ip is owned by activision :(

and honorable mention: Tachyon the Fringe: Novalogic's first and only foray into space sims was fun and looked great for the time, need another one

I would love to see Homeworld 1 & 2 re made for sure! Or hell even a Homeworld 3.
Grim Fandango would be awesome oh and Discworld :)

Hell, I forgot about alot of the titles mentioned, Tachyon and Homeworld have so much to offer for current technology, not just in graphics but also gameplay.

The only game in existence that NEEDS to be brought back (note: not a want, or a lus, or a 'could be nice' but an actual NEED) is Planescape: Torment.

There's a game that would sell like hotcakes amongst today's mature gamers.

lol but mature gamers are rare.

truth be told alot of games mentioned are shoe ins for a modern make over others not so much as that would ruin our memories of them

Planscape being number one on the list of should not be done

Oi! Don't you pull the, "It'll ruin it!" card on me. I'll klap you somma royally

Planescape is a game that too many people have never even heard of. It's a beautiful, spectacular game that would be absolutely brilliant if it were brought back and into the 21st century. It's a work of art that shouldn't be left to rot because people are too afraid of taking a risk with it.

I'd say bring it back, remake it and if it's successful (wtf wouldn't it be?) expand on the universe. I would agree in the sense of leave Nameless' story alone, but don't kill the universe. It has so much life and potential to it. BRING IT BACK.

Exactly. I want to go to all the planes that they talk of.

New games in the series yes, but not a reboot is what i meant sorry.

too many reboot's going around these days that ruin classic titles.

Well, what do you mean by "reboot?" If by "reboot" you mean "remake" then I'd disagree--look at how fantastic the Monkey Island SEs have been. All I'd want for Nameless' story is a remake of the original Planescape (keep the same voice-overs, would kill me if they were changed). After that, I'd love to see what they could do with the universe :D

Also, we have gems like Deus Ex 3, Duke Nukem, Thief 4 and Dungeon Siege III making a comeback, reboot FTW :D

reboot ala re-imaganining or total redo of everything including the characters.

that's what reboot means.

hd make over of most old titles would be awesome
