Free games on xbox live (For Gold)

Open My games and apps. Select Queue. Highlight the active download. Press the Menu button on your controller (the 3 lines). Select Pause installation or Cancel, depending on what you want to do.

Thanks Greg, but I figured that out (eventually) in the process of trying to stop the download after it had started :)

What I was hoping for was a setting to the effect of: "Don't auto-download new games", but from googling last night it seems it isn't possible.

The way you mentioned is the only way to go.

Thanks, we know that part GregRedd. :) We want to make it not start the download when we get something.
 
Yeah, sorry chaps. That'll teach me to pay more attention when reading forum posts. :)

As for your actual question, not in front of my console right now so I'm not 100% certain, but I think I recall seeing something in the Power Settings. If you have Instant On selected there was an addtional option or two available, one of which I think says something about auto downloads.

Of course I could be completly confusing it with something else again. :|

Yeah, that is in terms of the console being off. You have 2 modes, Instant On and Power Saving. If you have Instant On selected, your console turns on real quick like and it will also turn itself on to download new games or any game updates.

So that will only turn the console on to download something, it won't prevent it from downloading anything new if the console is on already, unfortunately

On a late note, Styx (which will be available for free shortly) is actually a better stealth game than Thief ;) . It's one of those under the radar hits because people got distracted by Dishonored and Thief. I played it on PC and had a blast, but will definitely add this to my collection on my Xbone. So don't miss out on this, especially if you enjoyed the older Thief games.

On Xbox One, Xbox Live Gold members can download Goat Simulator ($9.99 ERP) for free during the month of June. The Crew ($29.99 ERP) will be available as a free download from June 16th to July 15th.

On Xbox 360, starting Wednesday, 01 June, Super Meat Boy ($14.99 ERP) will be free for Xbox Live Gold members through June 15th. Then on June 16th, Xbox Live Gold Members can download XCOM: Enemy Unknown ($39.99 ERP) for free through June 30th.

I'm not happy at all with this month's games with gold and next month's games may be a little better but not something that I'm interested in.

Yeah this month has been a crappy month, plus the increase in price hasn't helped calm our sour grapes. I'm an however quite excited for The Crew and Super Meat Boy. Glad to be getting those games for free.

XCOM is also a great game, haven't played it on console ofcourse, but it was great on PC.

I got XCOM for the 360 way back when I won and gave back the Xbox 360 from MyGaming. Also enjoyed the game immensely on console. Apparently I have it on PC as well, but never saw the need to play it there as well.
