Developer Edge of Reality announced that Loadout, its free-to-play "over-the-top" multiplayer shooter, will launch on Jan. 31, 2014.

Loadout claims that its weapon-crafting system will allow over 44 billion possible variations for players to assemble, allowing them to define their own class and play style.

Edge of Reality has 15 years of experience in the industry, contributing to projects like Mass Effect, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, The Sims, and Dragon Age. Loadout is its first original game. "We couldn't be more excited to open it up to the masses,” CEO Rob Cohen said in a press release. “We started this as a passion project, working on it when we could, and trying to create something original and truly player-friendly. What we've got now is a game that’s a blast to play, quick and easy to get into, and empowers players with insane amounts of customization.”

Currently in early access, Loadout will be available through Steam when it launches, but you can create an account and reserve a name tag now.

"billions of weapon configurations Loadout" I think its going to take a while to find one that you like and then you are usually just going to use that one loudout, I thing this was a lot of work for the dev, All I can say is that I am looking forward.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I wonder however if they will allow you to add your content ala Dota 2

This is just the pre-alpha so chances are it's bound to change drastically as it reaches later builds... but to me the game as it is right now is pretty much perfect.

It would even make a perfect andriod game to play on your tablet, just think about it.It looks like that type of games, it reminds me of a andriod game but can't remember the name, it was in the editor's choice, any idees.

I could play it as is as well. Wouldn't remotely mind. However I would still love the opp to add our own content. Perhaps they could award you the right to create an item in reward for exemplary play?

I will have to check this out saw the trailer on a Nag disk, really dig the celebration poses.I am also intrigued by the art style.

All i can say is how many testers did it take and how much time so that they can specify that there are over 44 billion configs for weapons that is a lot of time testing and frankly i can't see myself trying out 44 billion combo's ill just make one that kills everything with Fire

Not much FPS experience in that team by the look of things. I'll watch from the sidelines for now.

i was one of the beta testers! I had around 7 combos and then i decided to stay with the one that works the best... This game also works on the same principle as with many games these days where you can buy token to buy upgrades...

How did you become a beta tester, I never get chosen at anything.

Some of us are the lucky ones, we also never get anything online even lost all the online auctions, but I know lady luck is on my side this year.
