Gabe Newell: Piracy is a service issue

At least there is 2 companies that actually understand that its about creating value and not treating all your customers as criminals. Maybe ubisoft should learn something from Vale and Gog....

I see pastern here. Both do DD and do sales aka cheap games. 2 of the main reasons people get into piracy. Ant it a bit ironic that those who do not see a issue are competing with the big evil that is piracy as if it is another company instead of criminalizing there potential clients
 
Step number one, don't make people feel like they just got a full cavity search every time they want to play your games, here's looking at you Ubisoft.
 
Well then, perhaps pricing is an issue? Who has the money to shell out $59 for a game as well as regular must have DLC purchases all for 1 game?? I say make new games $29-$39 RRP..

lol. No form of entertainment is a "must have". It's not like you need it to survive.

True, but some of the DLC released these days should actually have been part of the games to begin with. I'm not against DLC, but I am against the day-1 DLCs... that should have been part of the game as the games are expensive enough as it is. So I guess, for games like Mass Effect, I'd also refer to those DLCs as "must have", although I guess I am using the term rather loosely :)
 
I've stayed away from Steam after some fiascos with purchased games that couldn't be played because of Steam authentication. Ended up having to get cracks to play. But it seems to me that pricing is a factor unless Valve wants to give some figures showing that the biggest quantity of purchases are not when they have a game massively discounted.
