Game release dates getting pushed back

Have you guys noticed that a lot of the titles are being delayed lately? I think that's awesome because these people are wanting more time to polish their games. Or that's what I hope at least.

Can this be that the developers are finally realizing that releasing unfinished games is not cool and having people pay that much money for a piece of turd (Flops comes to mind) is also definitely NOT cool?

being a developer, it's not always in your hands when launch day is. money, sales and pr sometimes takes pole position. however at times and as it should be, the development cycle of a product should not be rushed.

i had numerous times where something HAD to be done in 4th of the time which was normally allocated and we all know how rushed jobs turns out even if the development team is all AAA. no one is perfect and one tend to have more developer bugs in the applications/game when you are severely pressed for time.
 
I am glad duke has been pushed back. They must feel it needs more polish and the bugs ironed out.
 
I don't think the push-backs have nearly as much to do with Bugs/Fixing/etc like we might HOPE they do.

Duke got pushed (my opinion) to not try and compete head-on with Crysis2.
Blizz usually pushes because stuff is incomplete. Lately quality control and bug-testing is an afterthought to them and they just make paying subscribers live-bug-test the sh** for em.

Anyway... I just think most of these pushbacks are due to last-phase setbacks, like printing of Disks, manuals, shipping problems, licensing issue popups, whatever.
Very rarely will something get pushed by as little as a month for fixes...

It could also be because there are too many games being released around the time...

But I do like the idea of them polishing up the game.
