Game Remakes

So after having a sudden urge to play Baldur's Gate (enhanced edition) I decided to look for some cool old games on the internet and came across this website:

http://www.agdinteractive.com/

I am downloading the remake of King's Quest 1 right now.

They have other games which have been remade on there as well.

Any other remake recommendations?

I have never played a King's Quest game; when I was younger I loved playing Space Quest and Quest for Glory.

Hehe I played that Kings Quest remake when it first came out. I see they've added lots of games since then! Space Quest and Quest for Glory are both much better than Kings Quest though but I hope you enjoy it.

I recently played the Monkey Island remakes and enjoyed them. It's a hell of a lot harder to play adventure games these days though.

Oh and I played realMyst last year too which is a 3D remake of Myst. Myst has gotten crazy old though. I remember how awesome it was many years ago and now it looks so old and the gameplay is crazy difficult.

Just goes to show how easy games are these days.

I like to think of gaming as a sport, the more you practise and like the game the easier it gets over time, everyone starts out as a noob but it takes skill and time to become a pro.

I don't think games got easier, we just started to play it on easy, and sometimes we buy games meant for kids.

I got to agree with Pooky. Games these days aren't like Myst that required working out elaborate puzzles that were crazy difficult. Games just aren't like that anymore and in truth I'm glad about that. :)

The Dark Mod - A Thief inspired mod built on the Doom 3 engine.

Renegade X - C&C inspired first person shooter built on the UT3 engine. Single player campaign is available with MP currently being worked on.

If I remember any other remake mods I'll be sure to post them.

I just found Boxer, installing it now. Looks amazing.

Pooky have you every playerd heroes of might and magic 3? There is an High res mod for it that makes it look perfect. Not so much as a remake or an hd redoing but it looks fantastic and nothing is changed from the original game.

Also black mesa is free.

Lol this thread is full of nostalgia. Kings quest, commander keen and Might and Magic all games I've enjoyed in the past. Won't play them know though. I do wish they would make games harder again. One of the reasons I loved Doom, always worried about how much ammo you have for each gun and you life/ammo carries on into the next level.

Playing the remake of the game and the original, I'm finding the originals so much better.

I find the system of typing the commands into the game instead of having different mouse pointers for actions way better to use.

Why did they turn them into point and click instead of typing?

Agreed. I was once gripped by nostalgia and decided to clock all of my vintage games...3 hours into Myst II; and 2 hours into King's Quest III dissuaded me of that notion entirely. Man those games are not easy; they require much patience and dedication.

i would recommend that you power on through all the way until King's Quest III. It so happens to be on that site as well
