Games that amazed you to have existed.

We have all played games before that amazed us; however this thread is dedicated to games that truly took your breath away. Those games that elicited the " How is this even possible" reaction.

So I would ask you guys to list any of those games that did that for you.

For me an example would be Uncharted 2. As the game began and the train fell apart around you...I was like :wtf:

So lets hear your thoughts

Brothers - A Tale of Two sons possibly the best game I've played in the past few years. Really blew me away. I have never felt so shockingly gutted. If I had the balls for it I think i'd play it multiple times.

The
Last
of Us

I never played a game that elicited every emotion I'm capable of experiencing or feeling.

Skyrim, I have to admit just blew me away. I skipped all the previous elder scrolls and then hopped right in on Skyrim and the sheer scale just blew me away.

Kind of sad that I grew out of it...

When I played the last of us for the 1st time; I was like "This shouldn't even run on this hardware!!" And emotionally yes it was truly wrenching.

I'll admit Oblivion traumatised my senses more than Skyrim did because ,again, I didn't know such ambition on current-gen [at the time] was allowed.

Skyrim on the Xbox360.

Killing your first dragon was one of the best gaming moments ever.

I still don't know how they fitted that game on one DVD.

The walking dead (telltale).
Best emotional moments I ever experienced in a game. Such feels!

"To The Moon" had me amazed at how 8-bit characters can convey so much emotional depth by just a few pixels being manipulated. I think I tjanked more than I did with "Walking Dead".

But the winner "Half-Life" and meeting this little darling:

First you heard it as you approached.
Than you tried killing it and failed.
And then finally figuring out that it reacts to sound and vibration.

For me, the stand-out part of a stand-out game.

Wolfenstien 3D wannabe virtual reality on my screen! So clever!
The first Gran Turismo on psx. The first time I watched my race replay I thought humanity had reached its apex.
Also Oblivion, when I first saw that and my friend said "You see those mountains on the horizon? You can walk all the way there."
Immediately started saving for a whole year for my first 'monster' PC, just for Oblivion. When I got it, played it for 6 hours straight. Just could not stop.

TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU THERE! :)

I loved every moment of this game. It swept me away on a journey with Ellie and Joel and not once did I feel that I was grinding or bored. Every moment was special, from the little monologues Ellie had with herself to the tense sections where I had to sneak past Clickers. I also love the setting, overgrown cities and small towns to the abandoned University. I absolutely love that post apocalyptic setting.

I must say that from a technical point I enjoyed Crysis 3 a whole lot as I would find myself just staring at the environment at times.

Oblivion was simply not supposed to be allowed to have been made. Truly made the rest of the year's gaming feel redundant

Agreed there. It was a whole different level of epic.

Half-Life as well.

Though I have to say playing Legend of Zelda: A link to the past was absolutely mind-blowing. Sorry, I'm old-school like that. And if you want to talk about things that shouldn't be possible on a console, go check out donkey kong country on the SNES.

First game that blew me away was mortal kombat. I mean when I first saw the fatalities I was so amazed and my mate and I always tried to figure out how to do them.

Earthworm jim 1 would be on my list but earthworm jim 2 blew me away. Was a huge improvement over the first one. Every level was different basically.

Doom 1 and 2 come now my first fps game. The gore the pumping metal midi tunes.

Star wars dark forces 1. Star wars fps.

Half life 1. That game really sucked me in.

Unreal blew me away by the graphics and atmosphere.

Command and conquer tiberian sun. The sci-finess of it excited me when I was a kid. The cut scenes were so awesome and the guys neck being slit. I really enjoyed the story as well.

Age of empires 2.

Command and conquer red alert 2 was just plain awesome.

Heroes of might and magic 3 was the king of blowing me away. So many different monsters, magic, castles, music was fantastic.

star wars galactic battlegrounds epic huge game. Played this game for months.

Star wars night of the old republic. Star wars rpg. Had an epic story.

Vampire masquerade. Bouncing boobs, great sound track fun missions and side quests. Great horror references and the water looked great :p

Oblivion just the here you go do what ever you want. Never played the ones before it. It feels like it was just yesterday I first played it.

Stalker games. Just really loved them had epic lighting and the atmosphere was very well done.

Grand theft auto vice city. I played gta 3 before but I really preferred vice city.

Bf bad company 2. My first mp game I really got into. where I met sky and og. Good times. Was such a epic game.

Morrowind.

Didn`t hear about the game before I got it.

Couldn`t believe my eyes when I stepped off the boat.
When it hit me that I can go where I like, and do what I like.
