Hitman: Absolution and Deadlight are the two free games in April for Xbox Live Gold members, Microsoft announced today.
Beginning April 1, Hitman: Absolution will become free — knocked down from its $20 USD price tag — until April 15. Hitman: Absolution is a Square Enix-published game from 2012, and IGN praised the title for requiring improvisation, giving it a score of 9.0.
Starting April 16, Deadlight will take the place of Hitman: Absolution, dropping from $15 USD and staying free through April 30. Deadlight launched in 2012 for Xbox Live Arcade and was one of the finest titles of the year on the platform. IGN thought Deadlight was great with a score of 8.5, enjoying the game's exploration and art direction.
Remember that only Xbox 360 users are able to download and play Hitman: Absolution and Deadlight for free via Xbox Live Gold. If the games are downloaded during their free two-week time period, players can keep them and play forever, regardless if they stay subscribed to Xbox Live Gold.
As for Xbox One owners, Microsoft plans on launching Games with Gold for the recently released home console this year. Phil Spencer, just announced as the new head of Xbox, told IGN that the company is "trying to match what customers want" with the program on Xbox One.
