Games you can play this week (23-27 April 2012)

Prototype 2 FTW!

I really enjoyed the first one when I reviewed it for MG despite the repetition, excessive powers and frequently glitchy gameplay.

If they fix even one of the aforementioned issues I reckon the sequel's going to be a winner.

I'm not really all that amped for Prototype 2. The first one was fun, but got pretty boring about halfway through. One of the few games I've never finished, and probably never will either.

Getting [PROTOTYPE 2] first thing tomorrow morning, can't wait. I should be finished with my second playthrough of The Witcher 2 EE by then and I still have 4 days of leave left. :D

In South Africa the retail version of Risen 2 will release on the 4th May according to Apex

From Risen official fb page
Risen 2â„¢: Dark Waters sets sails for a new release date on consoles!
The pirate RPG will now board store shelves on July 31, 2012 in the USA and Canada and on August 03, 2012 in European countries.
Risen 2: Dark Waters for Windows PC is unaffected and on its charted course. It has already gone into production and will lift anchor on April 27, 2012.

:D

Guess whose birthday is on the 4th of May? And guess who absolutely adored Risen?

So, who wants to get me a birthday present? :p

The first Prototype was awesome, but also one of the games that holds the current record for me swearing at my computer. Bugs, frustrating bosses & AI and more (can't remember everything).
I'll still get the new one though... as soon as it gets released on PC.

:D

Well it won't be me coz I am buying it for myself so screw that idea :p
Plus its my bday on the 9th so I too am getting it as a bday present to myself

/but didn't know you liked Risen, only really thought it was just me and Lycan who liked it here

Hell no, I love Risen! One of my favorite RPGs. I find it even better than Gothic 2, and that's a hard one to top.

Gothic 2 or Gothic 2 NOTR? quite a difference between them.
I found Risen to be less buggy then G2 which would make Risen better. But when I first played Gothic 2 I loved it, number 1 no probs. Risen came out more then 5 years later which is a big difference between the potential of the developer.
Risen was awesome and is my top game (hoping till Risen 2 comes) but it is so difficult for me to really say which one is really better for when they came out for me.

Nah, I've only played the original Gothic 2 so far. Still need to get NOTR.

But the reason I say I like Risen more, is because if I had to choose to replay either that or Gothic 2, I'd end up choosing Risen. Was a surprisingly wonderful game.

You should definitely get NOTR then. It really is a very good expansion and adds probably an extra 20 plus hours onto it.
I see that IGN gave Risen 8.6 which to me was very accurate (actually I would give it 95 but anyways :D). A few bugs but I found the game world so engrossing which really made the bugs a minor part of it.
Risen 2 6.5 doesn't really concern me as I trust PB, all I really need is story, game world, and good combat and I'm set with a PB game I recks

The only real issue I had with Risen was the way it locked you onto enemies in combat. It often led to many frustrations. Other than that, it was a nearly perfect game. It also had some of the most amazing scenic views I've ever seen in a game. Watching a sunset over the jungle was beautiful.

I never really had a problem with the combat in Risen 1 and actually found it to be really enjoyable. Well the sunsets in Risen 2 seem to be even better which is always welcome.

The combat was excellent, it was just the lock-on that got a bit annoying at times. It would often lock onto a specific enemy, and stick to him even if he moves behind another enemy.
