Ultima Online

The first time I played Ultima Online was on the ZH1 shard. Although it wasn't the original ultima online it had an awesome classing system and a great community. The introduction of extra classes and weird races and items later spoiled it though. I don't think there has been a game since that has been able to replicate the kind of freedom you felt when playing this.

Portal and Braid. I'm always ever so slightly envious when I see someone playing one of those for the first time.

Portal is by far the benchmark of awesome-games-you-have-to-play.

Well that and Monkey Islandâ„¢ :D

Grand Theft Auto III. The first time you put a beat down on a hapless citizen with a baseball bat is a moment that can never be recreated.

Deus Ex
Deus Ex
Deus Ex
Deus Ex
Deus Ex
Deus Ex
Command and Conquer 1
Half-Life 1
Grand Theft Auto III. No single part, but the whole game in itself. To see the whole GTA world converted to 3d was awesome!
Doom1
Doom2

I remember playing doom1 first on a 486 at a friend's place. Their pc was in a rich old wooden bar, very small room with those tinted windows. Those yellow and brown ones. I miss that room!
Weird how these memories are allways retained?

Ultima 8. It's the first Ultima I ever played, and therefore will allways remain the best. I have played them all, but U8 still remains the most awesome one.

Crusader No Regret, Crusader No Remorse.
I still replay Both these games alot, but they will never be the same as the first time. Both Highly underrated (well in SA anyways) gems.

Heretic
Anachronox
Tomb Raider 1
Duke3D
Duke3D
Duke3D
Duke3D
Blood

Must experience pc game imo

Duke 3d -was definately ahead of its time from an immersion perspective
MDK - aaah Kurt Hectic
Doom - nuff said
Need for Speed II Special Edition - FZR 2000 still gives me goosebumps
Virtua fighter II - i remember struggling getting the game to run on my old pentium 100 back then
Super street fighter II turbo (PC version) - Himem.sys always giving me problems when i try to run the game from the c: prompt
Half life - ahead of its time s all im going to say
Tomb raider 2 - still one of my fav's, also had the most varied and creative levels, venice anyone ?
Star wars dark forces - another must have classic
System Shock 2 - that game was truly atmospheric

I totally agree with pheonix that new games (even with flashy graphics) are not as fun as these older games.

Definitely the first Doom. The graphics were just such a big jump back in the day. And then there was the atmosphere and wow Doom was such a big experience when I first played it. I'd love to have that feeling again.

Grim Fandango
Monkey Island
Day of The Tentacle
Portal
Bard's Tale 3
System Shock
Ultima Underworld
Manhunter New York

Probably remember some more later

Playing Braid and World of Goo now... :) Total Classics

Day of the Tenticles
Half Life
Doom
Duke Nukem 3D
Monkey Island
Resident Evil
Heretic
Prince of Persia

the list can just go on and on...

Balders Gate I + II
KOTOR I + II
Morrowind
Dune 2 (my first RTS, for nostalgia value)
Soldier of Fortune (first time I blew off a guys leg... omg)
Vampire: Bloodlines
UFO: Aftermath (Yeah I know it's not X-Com but it sucked me in)
Flatout (one of my favourite racing games. Difficult at first but once you get the feel for the game it's very satisfying)

So many actually. Basically most of my favourite RPGs.

Edit: How could I forget Syndicate & Syndicate Wars. Loved them games.

Half Life.

And Quake 2. Wow i loved that game, i spent countless hours modding it, adding player models, weapons models and so much.

Especially Action Quake2, was so awesome!
