Gaming and Significant Life Moments

Do you have any games that you associate with significant stages/moments of your life? Maybe it was a WoW obsession in varsity or a game that got you through a rough patch.

Two examples for me are:

1) Playing Gears of War coop with a friend the night before my wedding. I was getting nervous about the next day and so the perfect remedy was playing some Gears while lanning at my friend's house. I definitely felt more relaxed and slept well that night.

2) In the early days after my son was born I would stay up until midnight to take the first shift of feeding/settling for the night to give my wife a chance to get some good quality sleep. I remember playing Assassins Creed: Brotherhood at the time. Just hearing the soundtrack of the game brings me back to that time.

What are some of the games that you associate with particular moments in your life?

The combination of Heroes of Might & Magic 2 hotseat + Queen (First CD I ever owned) is forever linked in my mind. Used to spend days playing that with a mate & well playing the only music I had in the background.

Was playing Portal 2 co-op with my little cousin in France the other day. That was a somewhat woohaa moment. Sizable age gap so feeling the pressure to be the cool cousin.

Actually think I need to create a thread about that...

And finally...some wicked LANs...especially red alert 2. Had a friend that was pretty evenly matched with me on strategic ability so those games would result in mega length games (6+ hours) of back & forth.

Great thread!

Back in 2007 I think it was, I broke my foot horribly. I had to get surgery and my foot was so swollen that I had to stay in bed for quite a while before I was able to have the surgery and then again afterwards. And Guild Wars will always remind me of that period. I played on a laptop in bed. The laptop go so hot that it burned me!

Fallout 2. I bought the game at Zaps back when it was still in the old flea market at the Waterfront. It was my first year out of the house while I was studying and Fallout 2 kept my mind busy during an uncertain period in my life.
