I work in an field of study where people hate their jobs, who doesn't right?, and are unwilling to learn something because it is downright boring.
Now I completely understand becuase a while back i read that article about people playing games presenting with higher cases of ADHD, (Attention something something Disorder), because their lives were so boring in comparison to games that they couldn't pay attention to it, which by the way I totally agree with and understand but... I don't agree with gamers developing ADHD, rather studying is soooo boring that they would rather do something more exciting like playing games.
Now I had a thought, education is boring, I hated school, it was boring POINT and largely not practical to everyday function. Why would I need to know if a train leaves from point A and another from point B and travels at so and so speed how long would it take for them to Blah Blah.
How about putting gaming into education!?
Now this isn't a new concept or idea, but mostly it has sucked badly in its implementation.
But now that I heard the new Xbox 360 Kinect is coming out...
I had an idea.
Using this idea in education.
The reason why is that people learn in three ways audio, visual and kinaesthic (excuse the spelling).
Kinaesthic is like muscle memory, where your brain remembers movement and you remember what happened at that point.
Now how about using all 3 methods in the classroom to play out RTS, RPG, 3rd person or First person scenarios?
Would you like to play games in your classroom and thus learn something constructive and useful rather than listen to some teacher, lecture or consultant talk on and on the whole time?
