so after this w'ends LAN that i attend, i've decide to buy myself a gaming mouse, and controller

my budget is about r800

so i am looking at : Microsoft SideWinder X3 Gaming Mouse and Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller for Windows

the controller is actually the not the most important thing, as i'll probably only use it for racing and fighting games

opinions/suggestions please

Right choice to go for a XBox 360 gamepad. They are by far the best at the moment.

The mouse will be a personal thing. Find something that you like and hopefully you've tried out a couple of the mice at the LAN that you were to.

i like the xbox one, cause i have a xbox...

...the only mice i tried all cost 800 or more :( a bit out of my range.

the reason for my lowish budget is due to not being the biggest gamer in the world, but i'm thinking these would make my life a bit easier

thx crzwaco, any links for those as i can't find the mx815 and i can't seem to get the g5 at that price anywhere

cool stuff, thx...the mx518 looks pretty decent

mmmmm, and the x5 also looks the part, maybe i should opt for a more expensive mouse, and go with el-cheapo controller

It's a tough decision. I've got a Logitech Rumblepad 2. What annoys me is that most games these days do not support it properly but they support the 360 controller perfectly. If you go look at the Logitech forums you'll see how the people complain that they want new drivers yet Logitech doesn't even make the effort to reply.

I'm very pro-Microsoft since they've offered such great support with my Habu. They replaced it with an X5 and they were awesome about it.

How do you grip your mouse though? I use a claw grip and the X5 forces me to use a palm grip which I am struggling to get used to. Though the mx518 is also a palm grip based mouse.

There's a link here: http://www2.razerzone.com/MouseGuide/html/rightmouse.php

Somewhere there is a link to the different grips. I can't go there now because I am currently on local.

So to get you a mouse that will be perfect for you, what kind of grip do you use while gaming?

well i have always been using the mice that either comes with the pc, or cheap logitec mice...don't think that any of my mice would have cost more than r120

Did you try out any of the expensive mice at the LAN and were there any that you liked quite a bit?

there was razor mouse that i liked, think it had green led lighting...

...but i'm thinking i would get accustomed to any mouse if i use it bit, so part doesn't really bother me

so maybe it i should take the mx815 and xbox controller, otherwise go with something like a x5 and leave the controller for Dec

if game had that special it not running anymore :(

so i went to makro in lunch and got the mx815

thanks for all the advice folks, and now i can go order the xbox controller :D
