Has anyone ever met people who openly bragged about them having this massive collection of pirated games and said you were crazy to buy the game?, have you also noticed that those are the people who don't play the games?:wtf:, yes.... these people usually sit around with a massive collection of games and don't play any of them but just end up satisfied with boasting about it:confused:....... This really annoys me:mad: not only did they steal it but they also go and show-off to people by saying they have the latest games like 2 days after release date but never end up playing it.

Lol what do you think?, does games that we buy encourage us to play it more or not? (this does not only refer to DVD's but also steam)

:wtf: Why would they download something they wont play. Bandwidth Hogs!

Can say the same about my steam collection, Have you played and finished 100% of your steam games ?

:e
256 titles; you better get playing :D

Meh! if they pirate them and dont play them?, why waste money buying the original game in the 1st place if you dont play.

But mine are paid for :D
There is no difference imho, both uses bandwidth- what's the point in paying for something and not playing it ?

I'd say so, yes. For one, I appreciate the games I pay for more than those I get free.

Suppose that 100% of your music, movies and series collection are legit and paid for? how about ordering something, but you managed to get another thing by chance that's more expensive and walking away with it? (aka cheese burger, but taking the quarter pounder)

Actually, I think you have a point.

I remember when I was a young teenager, the excitement of saving up for a few weeks, mowing lawns, washing cars etc and then eventually getting one of my parents to take me to CNA to get a game I wanted. I would open the box on my way home and literally start reading the manual, sometimes giddy with excitement. Then once home, I'd rush to my room and pop the CD in and start installing.

It was definitely a ritual and I think it did add tremendously to the overall experience.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I think grabbing 20 games at a LAN decreases the psychological value proposition of each title. Same thing applies to music.

We should have a thread to end all piracy threads thread :\

I know this may sound weird, but it think piracy is the best advertising/marketing most companies could ever have hoped for.

Piracy is wrong, but the methods that companies have used to stop piracy aren't helping them but actually fueling piracy even more.

I only buy games, when I'm planning to play them online. Otherwise i don't see the need to buy any games which I'm just going to play the single player once and chuck it in the cupboard.

I do feel bad for not supporting the software developer, but if I have to buy every game I want to play, I won't have money for food or petrol.

The same goes for Series and movies.
Big movie releases I will go to the cinema for but otherwise I'll wait for a decent copy and DL it from the internet or the WUG.

I get this all the time. In my circle of friends, there are 6 Xboxes. I have the only one that isn't flashed. They always try to get me to do it, which I refuse to do. They brag about paying R60 per game, but I notice that they go buy like 10 at a time, then only end up playing one of them. Which means that they could've just bought that one game for the full retail price.

I do not pirate games. I would rather wait for games to drop in price or get a second hand copy of the game. I also pre-order games at least twice a year. I don't import them either - I support the SA market. Thats just my two cents.

I bought Homefront and Duke Nukem Forever..

What a waste of my hard earned money. Needless to say, the next game I will be buying is BF3. Other than that, if it's a single player only game, I won't be buying it.

I agree, multiplayer takes up like 70% of my games and the only single-player game I'm considering getting is the next elder scrolls

>_< Know How you Feel...

Pirated Games are unavoidable, even Sony cannot avoid it 100% to the detriment of many innocent consoles but it feels good to buy a game =)
