Gaming keyboards

So, I am looking for a new gaming keyboard. I currently own the Razer Arctosa, good little keyboard, but it lacks some of the neat features of your high-end keyboards. Which is understandable considering it cost me five hundred bucks.

Anyways, I have been looking at the following:

I like the features of the Logitech G510, handy LCD panel, media keys, back-lighting, USB ports, handy "G" macro keys. The Razer Tron does not seem to have the same in terms of features, but in terms of presentation and appearance I would say it surpasses the G510 by quite a bit. Then again, that's exchanging practicality for aesthetics. Razer Black Widow almost seems to be in between.

Anyone had any experience with these keyboards?

Like you mentioned; the g510 has all the bells and whistles, the the tron has the aesthetics. Between those 2 you need to decide which is more important.

Both, however, are rubber dome keyboards. The black widow is a mechanical keyboard with clicky buttons. Mech keyboards are much better in feeling than their rubber dome counterparts and the clicky-type are also magical to type documents, etc with.

Unfortunately it has no LCD, which is very nice on the logitechs (love seeing my K/D in games :\)

So it seems there is a compromise in any keyboard. I personally think the mech outweighs all the other features of the 2 others mentioned.

Interesting choices Xero...

I was very interested in the Razer Lycosa Gaming Keyboard which looks like this on ZAPS's site:

But when I check out google image reviews it looks like this:

I'm not fond of the rubber keys idea, and would much rather have "laptop" low profile plastic back-lit keys ... but unfortunately finding a keyboard like that is proving harder than I anticipated... :/

Nice looking keyboards, I'd go with the Black widow because I find that the logitech keyboards are way to big and the tron keyboard looks way fragile

So I been reading through the threads on keyboard recommendations, I'm also looking at maybe getting a new keyboard, mouse and mousepad.

Currently using cheap R50 ones all around, but thinking of getting proper gaming ones.

Any advice on the 3, something that'll work out under R1200, preferrably even under R1000, would be much appreciated.:)

Was looking at possibly the Razer Black Widow edition, Logitech MX518 and then maybe a Black Razer mouse pad to go with it, from Rebeltech that works out just over R1k.

Any suggestions?:)

To be clear Voicy, I'm Xero, He's someone else, internally we call him Persian Xero, as in, the fake one
In terms of the Keyboards mentioned, I would opt for the Black Widow personally, I don't support Logitech products

I bought myself a Logitech G510, heard from several people who own one or similar. However, I really was keen on the mechanical option, just feels much better. But unfortunately in the case of the Black Widow versus the G510, there are few maco keys or media keys found on the Black Widow as opposed to the G510. This was the part that turned me away from the Razer.

@Voicy - Lycosa does look good, I assume very similar to the Razer Arctosa, just with backlighting.

Yes, you are Xero, we all know that, but referring to me as being "fake" is not exactly fair. My gaming nick is XeroS1x, yours was XeroWing. There is a difference, be it subtle or not. No intention of causing conflict.

Well, we do refer to you as being the Fake or Persian Xero, can't change that I'm afraid
You'll have to get used to it :)
Just like the other Persians you have on your portal, theres a duplicate Spartan as well, what's he called, Sparta I think right?
And yes lol, I am fully aware what my name is, was, but thanks for pointing that out anyway :)

To keep this on topic though, the Logitech is a nice Keyboard although as stated before I do not support the brand due to after sales service isues I've had in the past
I don't think you will be unhappy with your choice

Logitech has always been good. also impressed with their service, they shipped out a replacement receiver to me for free from the UK because I broke mine for my mouse. No fuss given, got it within 3 days. It's that kind of service that just makes me want to stick to buying their products.
Had the old version and new version of the G15 - very nice keyboard. Only thing that bothered me was the shift key being to short. That really pisses me off when they have they half shift key.

Xero - have you bought a new kb yet or still looking?

Pretty impressive. Quite unusual for a company to replace an item without a fuss. Yip got myself a G510, looks damn tasty. Can't wait to try it out :D

Remember Kids -- Ask for it by Name

Best gaming kb imo, is the micorsodt sidewinder x6
