Gaming laptops?

I own a HP Pavillion dv6 which plays games fantastically. Then again, it did cost R12 000. That said, it has better specs than the entry-level Alienware going for R20 000. I've had it for a year and a half and it has yet to disappoint.

At the moment I'm playing Dead Space 2 on mine with all graphic specs set to high and it runs without any glitchiness or drop in frame rate. These mythical gaming laptops do exist! And not all will cost you an arm and a leg.

I got myself the dv6 i7, 6GB ram, with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650, 500GB drive, 1x esata, hdmi, card reader, finger print scanner etc. for R6k off carbonite. Good as new. It seems to be quite powerful so I'm not complaining. Saw the same lappy going for R13k the year before. So there definitely are decent deals out there.

I mostly use my xbox/ps3 for miscellaneous games and my pc for MMO's/BF3.

The problem with lappies isn't the speed, it's the heat. :/

Agree, i bought a 2.5 year old dell xps 13 inch laptop a few weeks ago and the palmrest (aluminum) gets so hot you can boil an egg on it
. its only a c2d so all it can do is light gaming.

So true heat gets quite bad when gaming on my laptop and the cooling pad I have barely helps :D
