Gaming rig for R5000

Not bad :).
Hi,

Very interesting article you have written here. But sadly i do disagree. Why not give the users much better performance for their buck? some of your tech is quite old with todays technology. I have compiled a more suitable build for the budget build:

Intel "Woodworth" DH61WW LGA1155 DDR3 (New B3 Sandybridge) PCI-E x16
R637.40

Intel Core i3-2100 Dual-Core LGA1155 3.1GHz Boxed Processor (SandyBridge)

R1175.61
Club3D CGAX-67924 AMD Radeon HD6790 1GB GDDR5 256-bit PCI-E x16

R1453.32
Coolermaster Extreme Power Plus 460W Power Supply

R393.47
Corsair CMV4GX3M2A1333C9 VALUESELECT 2x2GB DDR3-1333 1.6v CL9 Desktop

R456.23
Seagate ST3500418AS Barracuda 500GB SATA2 7200rpm

R402.21
Gigabyte GZ-X9 Black Chassis with Side Vented Panel - No PSU

R316.12
Sony AD-7260S DVD Writer 24X SATA Dual Layer - OEM

R169.58

TOTAL: 5003.94

Now this is a rough build. I am expecting flaming. But hell why not help the average user :)

The ultimate goal is to set me up with only a budget of R22.46 XD

Just to bad the cost of windows was not included and they should have gone for a 2tb drive aren't they the new sweet spot for cheapest per gig price

well this is quiet interesting and really not a bad build at all

this is what i just built in the past few months, i had a thread running for those who wanted to follow my build

My MOBO: asus m4a87td evo Cost: R987.98

CPU: Phenom II 1055T X6 Cost: R1488.05

RAM: Corsair Dominator Cost: R800 +-

GPU: MSI AMD HD 6870 Cost: R2100

Things like the PSU, Chasis, DVD Drive and HD were all re-used

so my total cost was just : R5375

IF your doing a brand new clean build from fresh and i think this is a excellent article however i wouldnt suggest it for those who have an existing machine with components that can be re-used eg PSU and Chasis

Still good article....

Good build. I picked up a 5830 for R1000 which outperforms the 5770, but if you can, shoot for a 6870.

The Gigabyte H61 motherboard also supports crossfire which is lovely.

a buddy of mine can really use this :D

good tips guys keep posting and thanks for article Chris

Gigabyte GA-H61M-D2P-B3 IH61

The problem I have with this motherboard is the fact that your 2de gpu will be in the way of your sata connections. Beeing burned by it resently it was nothing someting I looked at before. But since you migth never get a 2de one I quess its cool.

Awesome build, the only thing I would change is the Graphics, the HD5770 is just too old:

The [Relatively] Brand spanking new AMD Radeon HD6790 goes for about R1300, LINK, okay that ones a little bit more [R1379] but its Factory OC'd. With a custom cooler!

Have to agree with the comments, rather get a better PSU and swap the 5770 for the 6790.

Great that for R5000 you can get such a "monster-tjie" nowdays, got some friends who'll be interested.

And if you know your shops...

Asus P8H67-M LX R 893.00
Intel Core i3 2100 R 976.00
2GB DDRIII-1333 R 188.00
2GB DDRIII-1333 R 188.00
Seagate 500GB-7200RPM R 362.00
DVD Writer 22/12x DL SATA R 158.00
Samsung P2050 R 949.00
ATI Radeon HD 5450 R 329.00
Coolermaster Elite Cool Case R 398.00
600W ATX Power Supply R 625.00

Total R 5 066.00

Drop the screen and get better gpu!!!

Anyone might want to update this thread..? Looking to buy just the box brand spanking new, would at least like to play Diablo 3 at high specs.. Any thoughts guys? Thanks!
