Gay romances confirmed for Mass Effect 3

Light-sabers are what makes Star Wars, if you don't like light-sabers you probably hated Star Wars. Adding gay romances is like replacing 10% of those light-sabers with a wooden stick with the wording "Sticks are light-sabers too ". So even though I like Star Wars I'm now forced to witness (and avoid) stick battles, before I can get to the Epic light-saber battles which also may not happen anymore, since it wouldn't of been fair to have Epic battles for the light-saber and not have them for the sticks. Thus they've been replaced with mediocre battles to be more "fair".

No. It would mean including pink lightsabers* and saying, hey, they're here if you think they're fabulous.

* Mmmmm, pink lightsabers**.

** IT'S A EUPHEMISM FOR COCKS LOL.

Ok thats just now stupid whats with all the gay in games it was like in Dragon Age 2 and now Mass Effect 3 :/

What does it matter?

What a terrible analogy. Totally doesn't match putting gay content in a game.

Plus you're missing the entire point where it's optional. Relationships in Mass Effect were always optional. I've never romanced anyone in either of the two games. With that I'll state that I find condoning heterosexual sex in a game and condemning homosexual sex is exactly the same type of discrimination as condoning a game that has only white people, and condemning a game that has black and white people in it. Stems from the same fundamental intolerance.

Seriously guys, I think it is very brave of Bioware to include gay romance possibilities in their game. I applaud their efforts to acknowledge both gay and straight relationships in our society today and appeal to gamers alike.

Was this such a big deal when Dragon Age Origins came out? I dont remember that it was. It was quite entertaining watching Zevron hitting on my male character. But that was how far it went. And I must admit, I've tried it in The Sims as well. I dont find anything wrong with it being included in games if the normal option is possible as well.

You see, there's the root of the problem, even if you didn't mean it offensively. It's been ingrained into society so much that we barely notice it in our everyday speech. People think of gay sex as 'not normal'. Sexuality is about as normal as it gets, its just years of intolerance spawned by religion that has created this entire image of homosexuality being abnormal. It really doesn't affect any individual if another one has a different sexual preference, so I honestly don't know why anybody would consider it a threat or abnormal.

Although gay relationships in games is the direction that bioware is following, if you are against it you could either stay away from that part of the game OR you could just stay completely away from the game. If you think about it, if you see gay relationships in games is it something that you would want to partake in in the real world? I personally don't see it to be 'right' to see two men in intimacy or even two women in intimacy because I wouldn't do something like that myself. I prefer to stay straight. Take note that this is my opinion and not an opening to an argument.

God, I give up. Let this world rot in its intolerance. You can't change these people. Even simply saying it's not 'right' is a form of intolerance in itself, because honestly, how can something you can't help (and let me add that I wouldn't 'help' it if I could) be wrong? That makes no sense and stinks of retardation. Sorry, but it had to be said.

If in the 21st century you still take offense to homosexuality, then you either need a reality check or you don't understand life at all.

if you don't like either A) don't buy it or B) don't play that way...

yeesh, some folks are so stupid

Anger and intolerance are the enemies of correct understanding.

Tolerance goes both ways, and it doesn't exist without sacrifice.
If your a straight guy, you should not have to watch two men making out period. Just like you who should not have to watch some big fat ugly drunk guy with a hygiene problem streak in front of you.
You can't expect everyone to adapt to your norms if your the minority.

At least in Mass Effect you have a choice, but it should be transparent. Don't want the fat guy to catch me off guard in the future.

Oh and games should stick to nudity and the odd kissing scene. Sex in games has as much appeal as an Uwe Boll movie.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if, you know, they have a tick option for this, like they usually have for violence? You could include other tick options in there like, "Religious References", and "Other Possibly Miscellaneous Offensive Stuff".

Problem would be that by the end of the day it would no longer be the same vision the developers/producers originally had for it (read: The Witcher turning into Hello Kitty Adventure Party: Save Kitties in Trees, But What Will The Firemen Think? or something like that at least :p)

Dude can you seriously grow the fuck up and not bring stupid remarks into this, regardless I think it's wrong and you don't so just fucking leave at that ok and stop trying to start shit where it's not needed.

We will teken the gay out of you yet :p

I think the first in-game gay thing I tried was with sims and it was quite a mission to get the other girl to like my girl.

I think this thread is becoming a little bit emotional - massively off-topic, and this is just my suggestion, but I think we should drop it in it's entirety.

It's just a fact that a lot of people aren't - and probably never will be - comfortable with gays. There are those who are completely homophobic and hate every aspect of homosexuality, which is a little retarded maybe, and then there are those who aren't really okay with it, but leave it be as long as it doesn't penetrate into their life.

Syco's view seems to fall into the latter category from what I've seen so far - but this is not what I'm here for; frankly I don't see any need to get involved in this debate. But what I am seeing, and what bothers me the most about this thread to date, is the fact that we have numerous people trying to force their views on others - whether those views are right or wrong is immaterial.

Syco is entitled to his personal point of view, as is Lycanthrope, Graal, Prophet, and all others who took part in this thread. Agree to disagree, and leave it there. Or take it to PD on myBB.
