Gearbox said no to Call of Duty

It wouldn’t strengthen our reputation as a studio, and it wouldn’t be really motivating for our team

But it might have earned them giant sacks of money.

Awesome that they stuck to what they believe in as a studio though.

“I think to deliver the Call of Duty that people want you have to play by the rules of the series. You have to do what is expected of a Call of Duty. So I see no real challenge for us. It wouldn’t strengthen our reputation as a studio, and it wouldn’t be really motivating for our team.”
I couldn't agree more.

Is Activision losing touch with its roots? Why give a franchise that is clearly doing so well on the markets, to another developer. You've obviously got what it takes to keep fan(boy)s coming back to your game every year... Even though it's the same f***ing thing as the year before. Obviously they want a Call of Duty to be made by a fresh pair of eyes. Different perspective. Maybe better gameplay even...

Still... I'm glad Gearbox turned down the offer. We need Borderlands 3 in the coming years damn it! ;)

Meh, the last Brothers in Arms was a bit on the boring side.

Besides, Brothers In Arms: Furious 4 is still in development by Gearbox, it's just not technically a BiA game any longer.
