I hope more teams enter. Even though I'm not playing, I'm looking forward to the whole thing. :) How big is Dota 2 in South Africa?

I'm completely new to the genre.

The DGL has 117 entered teams. There are reports of a local server coming up soon as well. So big enough to convince Valve to give us a server:)

What would be the best way for me to watch the games later? Do I have to search by player name or is there a better filter or way to get to the games?

Thanks James, I saw. Waiting for it to start. Eh, I was rather expecting a lot of chatter and whatnot. First Dota 2 tournament that I've seen though so don't know what to expect.

OK no. Enjoy guys. I was hoping to view the games via the client. Unfortunately watching it as a video is just too much bandwidth for a 3G user.

I still think that for pc games to grow as a sport it must be more accessible for spectators. I love sport and I love gaming. I really thought that I would enjoy these games but found that I can only watch them via a video stream. I see no reason why it would not be possible to watch the games with the client.

Last Sunday I had no idea who was playing who at what time. There was no way to get to the games with the client and if there were it sure wasn't posted here.

As a spectator I want to read about the strengths and weaknesses of teams. I want to see statistics and I want to see previews of games to come.

Right now it's some teams who play against each other sometime on a Sunday. There's no discussion. There's nothing at all to make spectators drawn to the sport. I was disappointed last weekend but I didn't say anything. Currently it's not a spectator sport at all. The teams have their fun and that's it.

I believe it can be more than that. It doesn't take that much time for someone knowledgeable to write a couple of previews and match summaries. Surely a client must have some way to watch games live easily. And if it doesn't it's a big design flaw.

Maybe I'm wrong about this. Maybe this tournament was started at MyGaming for the players and that's it. I can see the players having fun. And I'm envious. I just believe it could have been something more. I believe that gaming tournaments should try and get crowds. It can only prosper doing so. Because right now it's got zero spectator appeal and will stay with the actual gamers. It can stay that way or it can become something bigger.

I really wish it was something bigger. I really do.
