Get GTX 1080ti or wait for AMD Vega?

So this is this is the situation i am sitting in at the moment, I have asked for advice and opinions everywhere as it is a lot of $$$ to play around with.

I sold my 1080 just before the 1080ti was released, due to the massive price drop on the 1080, and the 1080ti coming in at the same price as when the 1080 was released.
Now I am playing with my onboard graphics while I wait for either the Asus Strix 1080ti OC to land, or wait for the AMD Vega to get released. At this stage I am leaning towards the 1080ti.

All the info on the Vega is just speculations at this stage, and no solid information. But it is rumored to be on par more or less with the 1080ti, not beating it though. But the important factor is the pricing. They say it may come in at a fraction of the cost. Release date is still unknown just as the rest of the cards details.
So what do you guys think and what would you do?

Have you been in this situation before with other hardware?

Judging by how well AMD came back with their Ryzen CPU's, I'm sure Vega will not disappoint.

I dunno. I am struggling to believe that it can come close to the ti. It really is one hell of a beast.

I am also keen on the ti but you will benefit to wait until Vega has launched. Even if AMD do not match / exceed Nvidia's beast card/s in terms of performance, consumers such as ourselves will benefit from better pricing.

AMD will give Nvidia a kick in the pants like they have done with Intel, of that I am sure.

If the ti outperforms the Vega, then there will be no price drop I think

I couldn't wait so I ended up getting an Asus GTX1080Ti.
I have no doubt that Vega will be strong, I don't see it beating the 1080Ti comprehensively though. It'll probably trade blows with it though. So it'll come down to what brand you prefer.

I would get the 1080ti just because the rand might tank and even if the vega is cheaper in $$$ it probably will not be in Rands.

Exactly what i did. Bought my 1080ti, ram, fans and cooler all before we were down graded to junk status.
All came up to a hefty amount, but would've been much more if I waited just a day longer.
