Getting a new Mouse, your thoughts?

So I recently returned my Steelseries Sensei [RAW] Frost Blue under warranty because of an issue with the scroll wheel. Aside from the scrolling issue I was pretty happy with the mouse and the Steelseries software is easy to use and efficient. I received credit from Takealot for the return but instead of buying another Sensei [RAW] I'm looking at getting something with an Optical sensor since I'm really into CS:GO at the moment and want precision without acceleration.

I'm interested in the Steelseries Rival 300 - the pro's for me are that it has a good sensor, I already use the Steelseries engine for my headset, 2 year warranty
Possible con - I'm used to smaller, claw grip mice with an ambi design and I'm not sure if adjust to something bigger and customised for the right-hand, but it may be that I've been missing out all these years.

Any other recommendations or suggestions? Flex and mottamort as CSGO players what would you suggest? I see that the Corsair M65 is in the same price region (not optical) - unfortunately my selection is limited to stuff on Takealot since I'll need to use the credit.

I have the M65 (the white one with the sniper button. Vengeance I believe) that I won from mygaming. Sadly due to a strange annoyance, I've reverted back to my Razer Deathadder on my main pc. The M65 (and this is just my experience), seems to sort of "lock in" when scrolling horizontally, like moving cursor left/right on screen makes it PERFECTLY move left to right. You have to make quite a deliberate up or down deviation before the cursor snaps out of it and actually starts moving diagonally. This happens on both my machines (both wibndows 10 tho, so dunno) so I dunno if its a Corsair driver thing or just this mouse or what.

At the end of the day it comes down to what feels comfortable in your hand. I like the weight and feel of the deathadder in my hand.

Don't be fooled by the 3500dpi or 7000!!!!!dpi type marketing, for csgo you'll be dialling that way down anyway. Even on the desktop anything more than 1800 feels incredibly twitchy to me (my mouse settings are 800 and 0 acceleration, csgo ingame settings are something else cant remote in and see THAT I'm afraid).

Doubt I've been helpful but those are my thoughts :)

Thanks for the responses (and 1 man convo's :p )

I admit the Logitech's probably last longer but the G502 is a bit too pricey (G300s may be an option)

Ya I think I'll stay away from the M65, in-case the angle-snapping issue can't be resolved in the drivers.

I hadn't thought of the DeathAdder, hmmm. Some say the Razer stuff doesn't last but I've got a Razer keyboard that has served me well for about 8 years.

I bought my deathadder from hong kong at the start of 2013. no issues, apart from a bit of grime that needs to be cleaned off it over time. It even survived a crazy-ant infestation...that was disgusting :(

My 2cents will be whatever you like and is comfortable for you.

My naga hex is now 3 years old, just has some minor wear and tear but its still going strong. I don't regret it at all, I love my razer mice and always have. For me its all about small but comfy mice, the only irritating part of the hex is I dont use the buttons on the side at all.

What are your thoughts on the Razer Synapse software?

Its fairly simple and straightforward. It works well with my deathadder and blackwidow chroma together. And I giggle at my buddy emo_chair who bought a corsair RGB keyboard but is struggling to figure out how to make the colours all flashy, when my one is damn easy to configure :)

Only gripe i have about it would be that it gets like bi-weekly updates. but they're never FORCED on you, and take about 5 minutes to install...just dont be playing a game when you click yes, as it will sometimes disconnect/reconnect your peripherals hehe :p

Get a Logitech something or another, they seem to last forever and a day
I disagree. My G602's left click started acting up after just a year of use. Reading up a bit, it seems that several higher end Logitech mice end up with the same issue. Forcing air under the buttons to clean out dust didn't help me at all.

So I'm back to my trusty 3 year old Razer Naga Molten as my main mouse for gaming and work at home, while I'm using the G302 I won here for work at a client.

And then also keep in mind. Any FPS you do not need high dps, so don't bother looking for a super duper extreme high dps mouse, Usless. Different lazers and sensors respond differently, and also depends on what mouse pad.
So firstly look at what style grip you have, I did a post on that while back. And then minimal amount of buttons. Don't need any sniper, or quick config changing buttons at all.
Left Buttom, Right button and 1 button for speaking.

I currently use the Razer Death Adder. Does the job. A decent mouse pad is just as important. And since with FPS games you tend to play on very low dpi and sensitivity, so a large mouse pad is advised.

Thanks for the info. Ya I changed my old Sensei RAW to about 500cpi for CSGO and my aiming improved dramatically once I got used to the lower sens. I've got a Qck+ pad which works well.

I wish I could go somewhere to test out the mouse before buying, as you say what feels best is ideal.

Funny enough I'm currently using this since I returned the Sensie RAW:

And it has worked surprisingly well. I just miss having side buttons and it's lift-off isn't as short so I sometimes find myself staring at the sky as it detects the movement while lifting off.

Try using 400 as your base DPI. Then make sure Windows send is at the bottom, mouse acceleration off in windows and csgo, with Ranw input on. Then go from +- 1.3 sensitivity in csgo and move it up bit by bit till you find what feels best for you

Just dont change the sensitivity and immediately go into a comp...or change sensitivity DURING a comp. not good :p

I have the Logitech G502. I bought it for R850 in June '15. I see it costs R2500 now on Takealot (fucking ridiculous!). It is a great mouse, really comfortable and very responsive, but I wouldn't pay R2500 for it.

If you can get it cheaper somewhere else or a 2nd hand on Carb, I would suggest it.

What are your thoughts on the Razer Synapse software?

In all honesty never used it. It is installed, but I havent bothered at all. I only have it for the ease of driver updates, but then like I said I dont use the buttons on the naga as much as I should - My issue is more my disability related - I cant press the buttons on the side properly. I had to get the mice tho since it was the most comfortable size at the time.

Call me a fanbooi, but anything Logitech. I will not recommend something I have not used yet.

A little off topic, but I remember paying R800 for my Logitech G402 -- or is the Rand just really bad? :wtf:
