Getting around the Wi-Fi signal problem

Hey Guys, was wondering if you guys had any advise/answers for the following:

I am about to set up a DSL connection at my house, we have quite a few people staying with us and we have 2 phone lines as there is a separate "granny flat" outside.

I want to use the flats phone line for the DSL connection as the house one is prepaid.

What would be the best way to get the Wi-Fi signal from the flat to the house?

Run a phone cable from the flat to the house and set up the router there?

Set the router up in the flat and try use signal extenders?

Also, I would like to know, how would using a long ethernet cable connected to the router effect the strength? Would there be any interference when using these long cables? (+-20m)

Thank you very much for your time and I look forward to your response.:)

First of all, I believe this should be under the computer hardware thread.
Secondly, ethernet cable CAT5 is supported up to 100m iirc and I have taken it further. And I believe that's your best solution.

Yeah don't use a longer telephone cable, it will degrade performance. Rather run a network cable to the house and install a normal Access Point there. Signal extenders are not that great sadly :(

Look at Ubiquity's range of wifi equipment - www.scoop.co.za

Best signal for the price, far less hassle.

Just a friendly warning, Cables plus outside = potential lightning conduit, make sure you pipe and bury it to be safe.
its going to be the cheapest option though.
