Getting emotionally attached to your character(s) / party. II

I get attached to my characters since I have put hard work and dedication into them and they are an extension of myself in the game.

If someone hacks my character I get angry and sad at the same time.

Oops forgot to mention it was in Need for Speed, WoW, Diablo and Guildwars where I got attached to my characters. In starcraft 2 not at all.

(CoD: Modern Warfare 2 spoilers ahead)

The ending of CoD: Modern Warfare 2 comes to mind where I thought I was done for. Also, where Shepard kills Roach and Ghost.

Mine started with Final Fantasy on the PSone, there you have to emotionally invest because you learn about the characters and in the very much attached. True not every game hooks me in that way but some enough do and then it is about not to play it through to fast.

I remember the first time there were some mildly emotional feelings ,
keeping in mind this was the first RPG I ever played and I was quite the youngster.

Baldurs Gate - Opening scene when your grandfather gets nuked.
The entire push for me in the game was to get some payback.

And how about OutLaws , very old shooter , youre a cowboy who's wife got killed and your daughter is kidnapped by a man who wants to own all the land he can so he can build his railway line.

Ive tried revisiting Outlaws but sadly it doesnt play on any system thats not windows 95/98.

Virtual machine solutions at trying to play this game also failed.

It was good while it lasted I guess.

Good times !

FF surely knows how to tune on your emotional involvement. One of the really cool things I liked about FF7 :)

Outlaws was a great game! IMO it was one of the best western shooters (on pc). Great music too!
