SpoOkie has some sound advice, wait a bit for supply to stabilize so that prices can atleast reach their RRP. HD5850 all the way!
And don't hold out too long for Nvidia's Fermi, there is very little indication to the price/performance of this generation. It may have better performance but most Hardware sites speculate that it will be more expensive (as was the case with GTX200 vs HD4800.)
But then again, patience may well be rewarded and Nvidia's new offerings will force AMD to drop their prices . Also NVidia's midrange are expected in Mar 2010 (Source: Fudzilla)
Definitely won't be waiting that long![]()
Don't sell it. A 280 is still one of the best cards out there. I sold my second one to a friend a couple of months back because i had no game that would put a sli GTX280 setup under stress.
Thanks man. I think my arse is itching. I will wait till my card can't handle it anymore and get something BIG again. Anyone else that can Confirm his point
http://www.mygaming.co.za/forum/showthread.php?t=3170 have a look there, but do you really need to run games at a hundred frames per second? (285 is about the same in performance as a 280, it just runs cooler and has better capacitors)
