I posted this on another forum and I'm too lazy to rewrite the whole thing, so just have a look here;
Might not be taken too seriously here, seeing as this site isn't centered around mods, but I'm sure there will be one or two modders hanging around here. Just have a look at whether your content is on the site, and if you would like it removed you can just contact them and they'll take it. It's highly possible your mods will be there, as a while back they downloaded just about every mod for tons of games to add to their database. Seems the database was deleted and dropped in favor of basically leeching off other sites.
Okay, first off, sorry for the necropost, but I thought it would be better to post this in an existing thread rather than creating a new one. There has been a general outcry from large parts of the modding community over gmod.com, and I think it's necessary to make people aware of what is going on. A while back, the following thread was created over on TheNexusForums, where people were outraged because gmod.com was uploading their mods without their permission. It's a reasonably long thread, so I'll let just post the link and you can read it yourself;

So tl;dr, people were outraged, kreisher tried defending his position, people told him what they wanted and decided to give him a second chance to amend his ways. Then a few days later, up pops this thread posted by none other than Kreisher himself;
http://www.thenexusforums.com/index....-index-system/
In short, once again, Kreisher explained a bit about some new service gmod.com is rolling out, and slightly further in, DarkOne (The TESNexus.com owner) expressed discontent at the fact that gmod.com posts mods hosted on The Nexus, and then links their direct download links from the TESNexus file servers, essentially bypassing TESNexus entirely, and mooching bandwidth. Kreisher tries to defend this underhanded action by stating that the advertisements are still seen by people downloading it, therefore covering the bandwidth costs for TESNexus. This gmod.com download process was implemented without consulting or even informing DarkOne about it first.
After receiving flak from the members for their underhanded actions, Kreisher never responded to the thread. This in itself says a lot about Kreisher and the staff over at gmod.com. Sites like TESNexus exist because the owners have a love for modding and wanted to create a central place for the community surrounding the mods. From the underhanded way in which they have been doing things since day one, and the fact that they still go on to do so even after being vilified by the community, it is clear that gmod.com exists solely for the purpose of making money and, and the more the better. Shaving off bandwidth costs by doing something that is borderline leeching, and then trying to justify it when the owner disagrees just tells me how greedy these guys are. It's all fine and dandy trying to make a bit of money, but if you do it in this way, you deserve to be vilified by the modding community.
I was willing to forgive them if they made amendments to the ways they do things, but they have made it reasonably clear that this will not be the case. I do not wish their business to fold, but I believe it is important to let people know about the issues surrounding their practices. They were warned, and they didn't listen, so now they will just have to deal with the consequences of that.
Edit: For those interested, TheNexus isn't the only community who has problems with this. TheNexusForums' members only became aware of the issue after this thread was created on another board;
