Cast your votes for a chance to join
the world's most elite XCOM forces

Green Man Gaming have once again joined forces with the Golden Joysticks and 2K, and are offering all users a free copy of XCOM: Enemy Unknown!! (while stocks last).

The Golden Joysticks mark a prestigious ceremony on the gaming calendar, where dozens of the year's best games are celebrated on a night of brilliance. There will be games from all genres, from all different kinds of studios. The most amazing thing? It's up to YOU who takes home one of the iconic golden joysticks on award night. All you have to do is cast your vote.

Voters will be able to claim their free copy of XCOM: Enemy Unknown while stocks last. We'll post again very soon on how you can claim your free game but you can prepare in the first instance by voting in the Golden Joysticks - just follow the rather large 'Vote now' link below. As part of the process you will be asked to connect your Steam and Playfire profiles so you need to have a valid Steam account to participate and become part of Playfire Rewards to be eligible for a free copy of the game!

Games will be given to verified voters whilst stocks last. Voters have to be 18+

Thanks man
did you get a key or any form of verification after you voted? I got nothing, and didn't even have to log in with my gmg account, so I don't know how they know I even voted

I voted a few weeks ago when it was first announced, on the basis that they'd follow same idea as last year (mafia 2 / Civ 5 free). Hope it still counts, as I've not really gotten any new notifications regarding it :P

They did confirm on the CVG blog that you would get the key if you've already voted.

I didn't get the key yet, or any notification other than the "Thank you" page. I didn't log in either but it seemed to have me logged in when I finished the voting.

Edit: "This year's offer includes all existing voters, as well as those who head over to GoldenJoystick.com and cast their votes between now and the day we slam the door shut. But please note: you won't be able to claim your game until October 23. So don't try."

cool. Thanks. I logged in with a different email, then changed it to my gmg one, so if that makes a difference I don't know, but hopefully it comes through.

Also received the key :)

"Congratulations on successfully claiming your free copy of XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and thank you for voting in this year's Golden Joystick Awards.

Please find your game key attached and ready for installation as per the below instructions."

Got my confirmation as well. yay.
Then I see it's windows vista minimum and I'm on xp. aaaaah.
Then I see it also has an ubuntu release. yay!

Just out Of interest what does everyone think of playfire?
I did mention this on another thread, but I loved it at first, and then found it was ruining my gaming experience. The problem for me is that you have just a short period to get your rewards, and so I was burning through games, without really getting immersed, just so that I could reach the achievements and collect my reward. After which I would toss the game aside and put on the next one. At the end of the day I realised I was destroying a R50-R200 investment so that I could earn R2-R5 back on it. It's just completely insane. Now days the rewards aren't anything to write home about anyway, so I've pretty much given up on the whole idea. Kudos to them non-the-less for thinking outside the box.

Interesting point of view. While I admit that my gaming habits have changed somewhat as a result (do I really wanna play this game now, there might be rewards for it!) on a whole, since the amount is small its not the end of the world to miss a few. but the fact that I'll be able to buy Arkham Knight when it comes out purely because I played some of my games (some I had forgotten I had and found out I really enjoyed) is to me a VERY gnarly thing :D

Cashing in the rewards is awesome. I haven't quite achieved your heights, but I do have about $6 to spend on something. Now, being a bit OCD, I need to find that PERFECT game. I can't just spend it on something I kind of want, which means I'm still paying cash for games from gmg, while a credit is sitting there.... :D Earlier this year they had Skyrim, borderlands 2 and borderlands for $10. I'm kicking myself that I didn't use it on that.
