Google Chrome OS

Its a cloud based OS from what I understand so Im not entirely sure how it will translate to regular PC's where u actually use the hardware on ur pc. Im a Google fan, have mah Android Phone and Google Chrome on all my PC's. I use SketchUp and Google Sites. Once there is more info on it, and how I can use it, ill make up my mind. For now however it looks like its targets will be Netbooks and such.

Only good thing thats ever come from google is the search engine. Everything elce is utter crap.

I beg to differ. Android is far better than Windows Mobile, Similarly Google sites is brilliant for people with little or NO HTML experience to get their own websites with out having to hire a server or register a domain name, especially good for small, from home, businesses. Sketch Up give everyone the power of Auto-CAD or other expensive 3D design programs free. Blogspot, which also falls under google, offers a place for anyone to create and maintain their own blog. I think Google has contributed more to the internet and the use there of than Microsoft or any other company. The fact that most, if not all, of googles apps are Open source they are actively encouraging users to improve, alter or completely change what they did.

The only thing I really like about Google is it's Chrome web browser (I've become edgy about Gmail ever since I noticed how the adverts that appear at the top of the page correspond to what appears in my emails)...Google scares me. Monopolies. Eeew.

Then again, Microsoft isn't much better than them. When it comes to protection and efficiency (not for gaming, obviously), I'm still for Linux.

EDIT: Just noticed that it is actually based on Linux... so okay, they seem to be getting somewhere maybe :)

Hehe. See the future of the interweb is GRID or Cloud computing, which means you wont have data stored on your Harddrives but rather in the cloud, which is what google is all about at the moment. Since all that data transmitted via the web can be monitored i would be stupid not to have a bot or spider that scans all emails for key words and arranges ads that you are more likely to click on than "Free Penis Enlargements" or those ridicules weight loss adds. As our lives become more and more interwoven with the internet this like this is going to become more and more common. Which is where alot of anti-internet groups get their ammunition, personal privacy and all that. Ive actually decided to put this kind of thing as the central concept of my new novel.

I love sketchup ! it also has the ability to export to 3d studio max which makes things easier for me

That does sound very useful actually. I'm still going to keep a cautious attitude about it though. We live in a capitalist society after all and the internet is a very, very powerful little tool. :)

Yep. There are alot of brilliant Google Aps out there, that being said there are also some crap ones. I was amazed by the power of Sketch Up, especially for a free app.

Capitalism is the way forward and yes the internet is on the front lines. You will always have those people who scream breach of privacy over something but as the saying goes, if you want it kept secret, dont post it on FB.
