Has anyone heard of or been lucky enough to get an invite to Google Wave?

"Google Wave is an online tool for real-time communication and collaboration. A wave can be both a conversation and a document where people can discuss and work together using richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more."

I'm very keen to try it out, what do you guys think?

Hmmm....so is this something like a cross between social networking and Instant Messaging with bells and whistles then, or am I oversimplifying?

I'm dying for an invite.. Signed up the first day it was opened up, even wrote them a little haiku, but no luck :/

I think your on the ball there, its like a mashup of myspace, twitter, msn and an Office suite all in one.

Only thing google has EVER been good for is a search engine, everything elce, there are just so many things out there that do the same jobs, but a thousand times better, this is no different.

Not at all.. It's email meets GoogleDoc (collaborative editing) meets IM.

Think of a lowercase wave like an email or a Google Doc that you're collaborating on with other people.
from lifehacker.
Also see their first report on it as well as a 2 min video to explain it better.

I signed up to be part of the beta, but still waiting for an invite. It's been about 3 weeks.

Don't hold your breath, I signed up in June already :/
