Joined yesterday too. Submitted a portal this morning. Apparently some guys on mybroadband say it can take up to 6 weeks to approve a portal. Hope it picks up with more guys registering.

That's for the entire phone though... it should, similar to GPS navigation, not have a screen timeout while active

Resistance Lead Explained
I've seen a few people here questioning why, exactly, the resistance have had such a solid lead on the enlightened as of late. I know the enlightened have been a bit discouraged about the gap, but I have an explanation.
After seeing the giant resistance field in Russia, I had my suspicions that that single field accounted for a large portion of resistance MU - the MU drop after the destruction of part of that field last night confirmed my suspicions.

That single portion of the field - something like 1/2 or less of the entire area, accounted for over 13,000,000 MU. If the rest of the area of that field holds up as MU counts go, its total destruction would put the enlightened on an equal level, worldwide, with the resistance.
So basically, the survival of the enlightened movement sits firmly on the backs of the Russian enlightened right now. Good luck, comrades.
I should probably give the resistance who created the thing a bit of credit as well - the whole field is created by two people who apparently travel together. One of the two regularly posts photos of himself at portals and seems to be playing Ingress full-time. Those guys are dedicated.
TLDR: Huge field in Russia is the cause. Search Chelyabinsk and zoom out a bit.
