Gothic 4: Arcania

It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a review so much:

Arcania has been dumbed down into a generic action role-playing game, so it isn't a Gothic game in anything but its subtitle.

The Good:
* Straightforward, easy-to-play hack-and-slash RPG.

The Bad:
* Boring story and nondescript NPCs
* Formulaic fetch quests
* A few hitches with map graphics and overall visual quality
* Generic game mechanics and limited character development
* Poorly translated dialogue and voice-acting.

Well-said, Gamespot :D

+1

It does NOT feel like a gothic game. The demo was very meh, and I didn't even waste my time finishing it. :( I'll wait for Risen 2 thank you. IGN does have a review up btw.

Which gothic game is the best though? I've seen it a few times and looks interesting...

Gothic 2 is the best imho. One is very good and gothic 3 is good if you can look past the bugs.

I so want to give the Gothic series a change but dam I always I mean always get the game breaking bugs. It looks very interesting and if they ahve Gothic 2 on a special I will give it a try.

Pretty sure the gothic bundle will be part of the steam xmas specials.

Yeah I too felt Gothic 2 was best. Gothic 1, man I had some serious game-breaking bugs with that! And Gothic 3 always gave my PC problems for some odd reason, little stutters which were agitating. Even today it does that : /

Today I might find it hard to deal with bugs as I did when I was younger. As it stands I have very little patience*cough* for them. Maybe it has something to do with the ease of consoles since I did not have one then?
