GoW 1 and 2 HD Remakes

Hi guys,

We talked about this very briefly in the past, but can I just say once again how fantastic these HD remakes are of God of War 1 and 2! I am really blown away by the graphical quality of GoW 1, not to mention 2 and 3. Sure there are some areas far and few between where you can see the limitations that the PS2 had, but if they can "remaster" older games like they did with GoW 1 and 2 then I'll definitely look at buying those titles.

I wonder, not having played GoW 1 or 2 on the PS2, how do the graphics compare to the original versions? Can you guys see the difference?

That is good news! I ordered mine and I am waiting for it..was a bit sceptical since GOW 1 and 2 are old titles, but from what u are saying i am sure the remastering did the game a bit of justice for the PS3. Only starting to console game this year..figured i have to try out the first two before diving into the third.

Dude, like I said, I popped in the games expecting nothing and I am VERY surprised with how up-to-date the graphics are. In fact, I want to say that God of War 1 with the HD remake looks BETTER than Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction to me! The textures look really nice. The only tell-tale sign that shows it's an older generation game is the low polygon count on the character models and the use of CGI-FMV scenes.

I am eager to hear your opinion when you play it. I am definitely impressed with it and that's why I am enjoying playing God of War 1, even though number 3 is waiting for me...I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything, and that's impressive for an older gen title to do.

The original PS2 ones the FMVs were actually ingame and didn't look so horrible. But the rest of the games in remake form are pretty good

Ive actaully going to order mine on loot.co.za, their pricing is actaully very good. Probably similar to zaps, but they do free delivery which is awesome

Got myself a USA version PS3 with backwards compatibility and (before knowing it was coming to ps3) went through the schlep of finding an NTSC ps2 version of gow2 on ebay and got it shipped - and still havnt gotten around to finishing it again... at least its the 2disk edition though :/

Does anyone know how they actually do this? Is the game remade from scratch or can they take the original and upgrade it with a new game engine or something???

Yup also read that the FMVs are directly from the PS2 version. So compared to that I think they did a brilliant job in remastering the game. Tons of fun too! Would recommend it to any GOW fan, even if you already played the PS2 versions. Have to say I struggled a lot with the final fight against Ares! GOW2 was a lot easier for me but also much better ito gameplay, story and graphics.

Enjoy!

There are lots of copies available to trade and to buy at ps3za. If you look around you will pick it up really cheap.

That's good news. I never got these on the PS2, but now with the third one on the PS3 I was thinking I'd like to play the previous two first.

I have pre ordered mine on thehut.co.uk - worked out to about 20 pounds brand new with delivery. Now just have to wait till the begining of May :)

I never played the games on PS2 but the graphics on PS3 look really good. I was surprised and it didn't feel like I was playing an old game.

This games'll probably be my first games that I play on the PS3. If only cash wasn't a problem............
