GPU help needed

So my GPU died on me a couple of weeks ago and really need to get a replacement card.
I will be upgrading my whole system Q1 next year but I just need a basic GPU to keep me going till then. I will then use my current setup with the GPU I'm gonna buy as a media PC.
So now my question, what GPU can I get for best performance vs cost (not looking to play games on full or even medium). I currently have a Core 2 Duo E6420 @ 2.13 ( this is a big problem for bottle necking any mid range GPU) and 460watt PSU.
I was looking at a HD6670 as Tom's Hardware has it as their best entry level GPU at roughly R1050, then Wootware came with their Firesale and saw the Gigabyte 550Ti for R1199. So should I go for the 550Ti?

Please any advice and help would really be appreciated!

I have a Gigabyte 5850 I'm willing to part with. +- 6 months old, 3 year warranty remainder.

It's a reference design card. From which I can see, is not even on their website anymore. Makes me thinks it's scarce.

Is this now a classifieds thread?
:D Just joking
My power supply only has one 6pin power connector and both your cards needs 500w psu. I started looking at the 6870 cards when my card died and then I discovered the 560Ti. I then realised that I don't want to spend so much money on a card I'm only going to use for a couple of months, hence I ended up on the HD6670. Also because of the HD7XXX and the new nVidia cards releasing close to my upgrade date.
So it's a safe bet going for the 550Ti, it's R400 cheaper than the retail price and the only reason I'm looking at it.
