Okay since there was a suggestion in a thread regarding Gran Turismo challenges I figured I'd start a thread here.

We can pre-arrange races based on feedback, then run the event over the course of a week or two. At the end of the time period I can post the times in the OP.

As a tester I figured that anyone interested can start posting times on the Mercedes Benz event currently running in the Seasonal Events. Whoever feels like posting a time there can do so and just update us on the time with your PSN ID.

As it stands, the event is going to be reset because people were using invalid lines through the track. I'm not sure when the reset is happening, but don't let that stop from posting a time anyway, we can just start from scratch when the event does reset.

If anyone has any further suggestions please let me know. :)

I will post my time later this evening since I cant remember what my split seconds were (it was a 1:19:---).

Sweet! This could be quite fun.

I haven't had my PS3 online in over a year, so hopefully all goes well and I don't have to pull too many updates. :|

Right, so I hooked up my PS3 again for the first time in over a year. Managed to pull the update, do the obligatory change-password thing, now busy pulling a 608MB patch for GT5 ... I'm guessing this won't be the last thing I need to patch before playing. :/

Nope, but it is the largest and they become progressively smaller towards the end. The last two patches are no more than 60mb total. I had endless problems getting the patches downloaded when I got the game several weeks ago.
 
Anyone having trouble signing into GT5?
I can sign into the PSN but when I get into GT5 i get a nice error message saying cannot connect.
 
So the GT5 updates were finally completed this morning (30hrs later) and just AS I try to log in...guess what.

"your need to update your system in order to log in"

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!1111oneoneeleven

It takes so long to update GT5, that sony releases a new system update while you're waiting? oh the lulz.

Anyway, I should be geared to go by tonight. (holds thumbs)
 
PS3 Proxy server is quite useful.

The original one is by CF3B5: http://ps3.dashhacks.com/downloads/ps3-proxy-server-gui

But I see there's an alternate as well: http://ps3.dashhacks.com/node/1480

Just run it on your PC, point your PS3's proxy to your PC IP address, and attempt the downloads.
You can then access the log, and download the files using a download manager, and then redirect the PS3 to grab the files locally.

I have a terrible time downloading these patches directly, so I usually resort to this method to update.
Just remember to disable the proxy on the PS3 when you're done.
