Graphics Card Advice

Hi guys.

Id like some advice from anyone who has a bit more knowledge than I do regarding Graphics Cards.

I am thinking about upgrading my system which seems to be rather outdated and giving a few problems.

There are two Graphics Cards I am looking at currently.

One being:

http://www.wootware.co.za/asus-hd78...bit-pci-e-3-0-28nm-desktop-graphics-card.html

And the second:

http://www.wootware.co.za/asus-gtx6...xpress-3-0-128-bit-desktop-graphics-card.html

Which is better and why?

I was going to get the:

http://www.wootware.co.za/powercolo...gb-gddr5-pci-e-3-0-desktop-graphics-card.html

But they are out of stock at the moment.

Also is there anything else in that price range that anyone on here can recommend?

I am not going to game seriously on my pc (getting the ps4) but every now and again I would like to fire up a game on my pc. I also do a bit of design work and edit some gopro videos. (I am possibly going to build a whole new rig with an i5, 8 gigs ram and I use a 26" samsung T260 moniter)

Thanks in advance for any advice you wonderful forum people might send my way.

Can't go wrong with a Radeon. Much better value for money compared to their nvidia counterparts

Awesome stuff guys, thank you so much for the feedback! I will check out the reviews as well as the R9 270X :)

Might just post up my complete shopping list here at a later stage for comment as well if you guys do not mind?

Not at all. That's why we're here.

PC parts

Okay well this is the setup I am looking at currently (Please see attached photo).

It literally fits my budget perfectly! No more moolah...

Any comments on it?

Not sure if my eyes failing or that picture is too small.
Can you post a bigger pic? (for the aging members)

Pics and part lists don't always mix, best is just to copy the part names.

Doesn't look bad, why that case though?

It's cheap, has a window and is all black on the inside.

My current case is falling apart, not kidding at all, the side panel is just kind of leaning against it, fans are failing, power supply burnt out partly, etc.

You should search for those parts at rebeltech.co.za ... just saw that the mouse and keyboard is cheaper there.
Would strongly recommend an aftermarket CPU cooler. Intel's stock cooler is no match for RSA summer.
Something like this: http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=12_33&products_id=1984

Probably don't need to spend more than R400 on a CPU cooler since you won't be overclocking...
Unless you want to make your rig fancy :)

I see, personally I don't like plastic, with that said this is my choice.

Also one of these

The case you are recommending would definitely be a huge improvement and it was something that I did look at but I only have a 10k budget for everything (and even that 10k is a stretch) I might upgrade the case in a few months though.

Would the cpu be ok without a cooler for a month or two or is it crucial that I get one now?

I guess you can hold the cooler for 2 months, over winter it should be fine. Come summer get a new cooler. I would rather get the case now than transplant a PC in 3 months. Get a nice chassis now and you can hold it for years. I have the 400R and love it.
