Graphics card for Sims 3

I'm putting a new machine together for my SO, and the main game she plays on her PC is Sims 3, so I want to put in a graphics card that will run the game with all settings on highest quality at 1680x1050. The machine will have a quad core AMD processor and 4Gb of RAM.

I've been looking at things like the GT440, GTS450 and GTX550.

Put this in the wrong section I realise.

Uhm, going for a GTX550 might be overkill but it will definitely make the computer future proof, who knows perhaps Sims 4 is on the way and if she decides to play other games she will not have anything holding her back. ;)

I found some old benchmarks showing slightly low frame rates on the 9600 GSO (didn't say which one) and GTX 280.

Most other games she plays are less demanding or they're on the PS3/Xbox.

My sister runs 1920X1080 with everything full on a 9800GT as well. So a 9800GT or higher will work great.

I've run 1920X1080 with everything full on a 9600GT in the past. Worked fine I guess because of my CPU and RAM.

a hd 6770 is pretty cheap and will run it maxed also, 9800gt EOL , will have to buy 2nd hand.
I'll add the 6770 to list of options.

The issue with old cards has been figuring out which recent cards are similar. Specs aren't generally much use as a way to compare.
