Greatest games of the 80s

not that im complaining im just saying that better graphics makes a shorter game (The Order 1886, MK XL etc)

lol a life b4 gameboy, the classics, for me retro games was always fun and challenging, it was awesome... nowadays its all about better graphics.

thats why at time when i dont feel like playing PS4 i connect the tv game and play some mario or adventure Island

Interesting because I have said the same thing time and again. The old games was hard to play but fun. I love Privateer 1 (Not everybody does) But there were so many cool things you could do and control. You could even sit in the turret while your ship is on autopilot and shoot bad guys out the sky. Privateer 2 came out and it was all about the graphics and the gameplay just sucked for me. It continued to grow into a graphic monster called Wing Commander and all the cool elements of the game flew out the window and everyone just ooh-aah'ed about the graphics and real actors that were included. X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter - what an epic experience for me - so many preferences you can set and no need to refer to the manual about aircraft types, weapon stats and payloads - just see it all in game. Duke 3D was probably the most satisfying game I have ever finished. What a big let down the new one was - Duke Nukem Zero was it?
Concepts like Mad TV - not sure if you know it - just brilliant. I am not for the graphics but the fun factor, play ability and it is just an added bonus if awesome graphics are added to the mix.

Mad Tv I know yes i used to play it at N1 City mall at the arcade they have, ok thats when it was still BIG. But you right its all about which system can output better graphics and not thinking about the overall agenda which is "its only a game, it should be fun for the consumer", dude im the same graphics means nothing if the fun aint there, they forgetting everything video game related, Thats why im noticing more arcade machines at gaming events like Rage, EGE, and E3 etc.

You still have a tv game? Interesting! I lost mine, and later the cartridges, over the years. I use an old single core, 520-odd MB pc as a MAME gaming machine. It's connected to my 10 year old CRT (adding to the retro feel).

So true. I don't remember the hardware specs of my first ever gaming console, or how many FPS it could push. All I know is the games were fun to play.

Got everything on Mame now and gave my 16-bit console away with all the cartridges a couple of months ago. I have been looking for a decent light gun that will work on an LCD so I can play Time Cop and The House Of The Dead. Those that I found were so expensive because you need to import it. Loved the light gun games. Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley and and

Think ima go with your idea of building up a pc for arcade games, sorry to ask this but mame does pick up game pads?? thinking of connecting pc to tv and having a retro gaming evening
