GTA 5 on PS4 better than PC and Xbox One?

This may very well be the case if you consider that:

1. The PS4 is technically superior to the Xbox One in terms of processing power. We've seen this in various games already where the PS4 version trumps the Xbox One. Even with the newly added 10% processing power increase the Xbox One received (due to Kinect going bye bye), I doubt it will keep up with the PS4. Somehow the latter just seems miles ahead in terms of optimization.

2. Judging by GTA 4 on PC, it seems that Rockstar has massive issues in porting games over to the PC whilst keeping them playable on anything less than a cray super computer. If that happens with GTA 5, then yes, the PS4 might very well be the "better" platform to play it on. Give it 3-4 years and about 100GB of patches, the PC might have a chance to catch up.

Time will tell. That's one of the best things about owning both consoles and a PC. But with the price of these things lately, I don't know many people who can afford that luxury.

GTA IV was 7 years ago. I take it everyone still harping on about how bad a port GTA IV was has not played Max Payne 3. If you did you'd know that Rockstar has learned how to make a proper PC version on their engine.

Max Payne 3 wasn't exactly the perfect port though. I played it a while after it was released so I had the benefit of several patches and it played well on my PC. HOWEVER, there were things that could have been improved for the PC release. Specifically the unskippable cut-scenes that featured just about every minute of the game.

I had it on release where it worked out of the box, lot of graphics options and ran at 60fps, 1080p on a Radeon 5770 . The unskippable cutscenes were a game limitation and had nothing to do with the PC port.

Yip it'll come with timed DLC rubbish. whoopee!!

Probably this.

Ouch. You see, that's what happens when you assume.

Sorry Isengard, I did play Max Payne 3 on PC (finished it actually), and no, it was full of issues. Also, if you're going to compare a game like Max Payne 3 with an Open World (massive) game like GTA 4, then I might as well put you on my ignore list as well for talking rubbish.

That's fine. You are assuming it will be a rubbish port because GTA IV was a rubbish port. I'm just looking at where we are (current gen consoles using x86 and not some weird propriety tech that the Xbox360 and PS3 used) and where PC gaming currently is (we are getting MUCH better ports than we did in 2007).

I'm not going to blindly assume the port will be great, but I don't dwell on a 7 year old port and think that's what we should expect.

There is nothing wrong with using the past to predict the future, it kinda happens everywhere from games to economics.

However it is a problem to use the past apple harvest to predict the future pear harvest. If you are gonna use one game as a basis for another makes sure they are the comparable

...then I might as well put you on my ignore list as well for talking rubbish.

I'm surprised more people haven't put you on their ignore list for all the garbage you spew.

You know, people living in glass houses throwing stones and all that.

This.

Rockstar aren't exactly renowned for quality PC games--almost all of them have been terrible console ports. However, in saying that, GTAIV was a great effort and I'm willing to have faith in the belief that GTAV will be a substantial technical improvement over that.

At the same time, it's hard not to feel as though LA Noire and Max Payne 3 were pretty lacklustre titles and while folks have been raving about GTAV, I'm not completely sold on the belief that it'll win me over.

Still, it's something to look forward to.

I have to sorta agree with Neo. Porting a shooter takes a lot less work than porting an open-world game like GTA.

That's not to say that it's not possible that Rockstar have learned how to port their games properly, but you can't use Max Payne 3 as a yardstick for how well Rockstar handles ports.

I very much doubt it this time around...we've had a longer period between the console releases now and they've produced (IMO) a much better version of Max Payne 3 when compared to GTA IV in terms of performance on PC. Also with the "leaks" we saw of logs and stuff I'd say they've had PC in the back of their minds for a lot longer (and with a lot more learnt) than with GTA IV. Of course I may still be proved wrong however with GTA IV I didn't experience severe issues so maybe again I'm just being optimistic instead of pessimistic (which we tend to do far often than not these days).

In the end they produced a magnificent beast for the PS3 (and I'm assuming Xbox360 too since I don't own one) version and therefor they'll produce something extra special for the PC (and those other things) this time around since we've had to wait longer. We'll probably get timed DLC for Sony (Microsoft had it first with GTA IV) and soon after release we'll most likely also get pay-for single player DLC announced (otherwise they can't quite cash in on it)...however modding GTA V on PC >>> GTA V on any other platform even if they include DLC-specific nonsense.

About a year ago, a thread with Neo, Graal and Ly would've been a shit storm...nice work guys.

Edit: regardless of what platform you pick to play this game on, you're going to have a great time.

Don't support this politeness, I want to pull out my popcorn

Well I know something Sony obviously doesn't...We have the modding community...they have timed DLC...Good luck and God speed lol

I'm sure guys like Lycan will be all too eager to start slinging mud - old habits die hard I suppose. As for me, well, my ignore list is vast. :)
